  • Patent number: 10370853
Abstract: A shingle blank includes a substrate coated with asphalt, a headlap portion, a prime portion, a starter shingle separation line, and first and second ridge shingle separation lines. The headlap portion has a first sealant that extends along the width of the substrate, and the prime portion has a second sealant that extends along the width of the substrate. The starter shingle separation line extends along the width of the substrate and facilitates separation of the shingle blank into first and second starter shingles. The first starter shingle includes the first sealant and the second starter shingle includes the second sealant. The first and second ridge shingle separation lines extend along the height of the substrate from an upper edge of the substrate to a lower edge of the substrate and facilitates separation of the shingle blank into three ridge shingles. Each of the three ridge shingles includes a portion of the first sealant and a portion of the second sealant.

  • Patent number: 10059016
Abstract: A roofing system including shingles with different shingle patterns. The roofing system may include a plurality of first shingles having a first two-tab shingle pattern and a plurality of second shingles having a second two-tab shingle pattern. The first shingles including a first tab having a first width and a second tab having a second width, wherein the first width and the second width are substantially equal. The second shingles including a third tab having a third width and a fourth tab having a fourth width, wherein the third width is substantially equal to the first width and the fourth width is about double the second width. • Publication number: 20180163405
Abstract: Shingle blanks including a first fold region, a second fold region, a third region, a lower edge and an upper edge are provided. The shingle blank has a length. The first and second fold regions extend substantially across the length of the shingle blank. The second fold region is positioned between the first and third fold regions. A first perforation line is positioned between the second and third fold regions. A second perforation line is positioned between the first and second fold regions. A reinforcement material is positioned over the first perforation line and configured to reinforce the first perforation line. The reinforcement material includes apertures configured to allow an asphalt coating to bleed through the reinforcement material. The first and second perforation lines facilitate folding of the first and second fold regions on top of the third region to form a three layered stack.

  • Publication number: 20170306627

  • Patent number: 9777476
Abstract: A ridge vent having a top side including a top wall with a bottom surface, a bottom side spaced apart from the top side, a side wall connecting the top side to the bottom side and an air outlet positioned in one of the top wall or the side wall. The ridge vent including a fire resistant material adjacent the bottom surface of the top wall. The ridge vent forms air flow path directing air through the vent and out of the air outlet. In a first position, the fire resistant material is not in the air flow path. In a second position, the first resistant material blocks the air flow path in response to the ridge vent being exposed to excessive heat.

  • Patent number: 9482007
Abstract: A laminated asphalt shingle including a base layer, a first decorative layer, and a second decorative layer is provided. The first decorative layer may be affixed to the base layer and to the second decorative layer by a flexible adhesive that permits the first decorative layer to move relative to both the base layer and the second decorative layer without de-bonding. The relative movement of the shingle layers permits the shingle to be folded over the ridge line of a roof without de-bonding or breaking the layers. Additionally, the relative movement of the layers when the shingle is installed over a ridge creates opposing transverse edges in which each layer is offset from the other layers as a result of the shingle bending about a different radius of curvature, thereby providing a dimensional appearance along the transverse edges.
