  • Patent number: 5629399
Abstract: A room temperature curable organosiloxane composition, containing an alkenyl-containing polyorganosiloxane, an organohydrogensiloxane, a platinum catalyst, a methylvinylcyclosiloxane and an acetylenic alcohol, which exhibits a long working time and a fast cure time.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 5, 1996
Date of Patent: May 13, 1997
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Donnie R. Juen, Kent R. Larson, Myron T. Maxson, Lawrence J. Rapson
  • Patent number: 5614567
Abstract: A method of preparing a self-releasing silicone foam in which a composition containing a siloxane polymer, an organohydrogensiloxane, a platinum catalyst, a polyol, and preferably a monofunctional alcohol is foamed, cured, and then post cured at an elevated temperature. A method of reducing the cycle time of preparing a cured silicone foam in which the above composition is applied to a plastic substrate, foamed, cured, post cured at an elevated temperature and then separated from the plastic substrate.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 1996
Date of Patent: March 25, 1997
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Jack R. Harper, Brian P. Loiselle, William R. Nicholson, Lawrence J. Rapson
  • Patent number: 5574073
Abstract: What is disclosed herein relates to curable silicone compositions which provide high strength foams or elastomers. These foams or elastomers have high strength properties which are provided by a combination of non-resinous organopolysiloxanes as the base polymer. The high strength properties are better than the high strength properties of cured silicone compositions where only one non-resinous organopolysiloxane polymer type is employed. These compositions have the added benefit of being less expensive than resin based formulations.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 17, 1996
Date of Patent: November 12, 1996
    Assignee: Dow Corning Corporation
Inventors: Donnie R. Juen, William R. Nicholson, Lawrence J. Rapson
  • Patent number: 5373078
Abstract: The addition of up to 40 percent by weight of a non-reactive liquid MQ resin to high viscosity liquid curable organosiloxane compositions that cure by a platinum group metal-catalyzed hydrosilation reaction reduces the viscosity of the composition and the moduli of cured elastomers prepared from said composition without any substantial adverse effect on the physical properties of the cured elastomers, particularly tensile strength, elongation and tear strength. Cured elastomers prepared using these compositions are particularly suitable for use as mold-making and encapsulating materials.
