    Abstract: A flat, bi-planar display panel consisting primarily of a cathodoluminescent light emitting screen comparable to existing cathode ray tubes, and an array of photocathodes to produce electrons for the phosphor screen and to address picture elements. The scanning system consists of integral opto-electronic shift registers, with photocathodes and luminescent anodes as active elements, picture elements addressed by electrical and optical signals from these registers.
