    Abstract: A miniaturized cardiotachometer is worn by a user typically adjacent the volar aspect of the wrist or the temple to provide the user with a numerical readout of his or her pulse rate. The time between two heartbeats is measured by the number of pulses from a fixed frequency source that occur. The measurement is made after a predetermined delay to eliminate or reduce noise signals, the number of pulses of the fixed frequency being converted into the pulse rate and displayed numerically.
