  • Patent number: 7806155
Abstract: A process for treating wooden logs to prevent cracking and increase durability includes the steps of cutting a longitudinal slot along the length of the log, forming a generally V-shaped notch by drying the log to a desired moisture content, charring the log to a desired coloration, bathing the log in a protective solution, and drying the log. The slot is cut to a point less than or equal to the radius of the log. The charring of the log can be accomplished by the use of a blowtorch.

  • Patent number: 6782835
Abstract: A particulate distribution system for transporting seed or other particulate from a source into a plurality of metering bins, the system including a manifold duct that begins and ends at the source and an air delivery system mounted to the duct to transport particulate there through and a plurality of particulate flow diverting structures that extend from the manifold into each metering bin, whereby each metering bin is filled in accordance with the flow of air available thereto.

  • Publication number: 20020137433
Abstract: An abrasive drill bit and method of use on glass, ceramics, tile, stone and similar solid materials, both natural and synthetic. A circle is ground into the material using a cylindrical drill bit, which grinds a loose abrasive between the bit cylinder and the material. When the circle is complete, a punch-out piece of the material falls out, leaving a smooth hole. Alternatively, the loose abrasive is ground between a solid bit and the material to grind out a hole. In both methods, the loose abrasive is preferably mixed with water to form a slurry.

  • Patent number: 6086172
Abstract: A structural assembly system used to construct a variety of pieces of furniture comprising a plurality of main elements, a plurality of connecting elements, and a means for securing. Each of the main elements includes a plurality of openings therethrough, with the openings preferably forming a pattern on the main elements. Each of the connecting elements, which are preferably elongate in shape, extends between and is connected to at least two of the main elements thereby joining those main elements. Specifically, each of the connecting elements rests on one of the openings of each of the at least two joined main elements. The means for securing, in turn, secures the connection between the main elements and the connecting elements. By selecting which main element openings have a connecting element inserted therein, a person can assemble the system into a number of different furniture pieces, including tables, chairs, and shelves.

  • Patent number: 5123303
Abstract: An impact tool is disclosed comprising a striking head, such as a hammer (claw, ball peen, ripping or sledge), axe or adze, having a handle-receiving socket extending therethrough with walls tapering toward the handle-receiving opening. The head has aligned holes in two opposite walls adjacent to the handle receiving opening. A handle has a head portion inserted in the socket and a handle portion. The handle head portion has a plurality of gripping surfaces engaging the walls of the socket and a laterally extending hole aligned with the handle head holes. Securing means, such as a two-piece holding screw, bolt, or rivet extends through the aligned handle head and striking head holes and a setting-type plastic resin, such as an epoxy or polyurethane resin, fills the space around the handle head portion in the socket to the end of the socket opposite the handle-receiving opening to secure the striking head against dislodgement during use.
