  • Patent number: 5618055
Abstract: A stander has a collapsible supporting base including a generally U-shaped frame with a horizontal bar that forms its middle section, and a T-shaped frame having a central extremity which is secured to the bar of the U-shaped frame, the two legs of each frame being adapted to rest upon a flat supporting surface and the two frames being foldably secured together and normally separated by about ninety degrees; and an elongated center post assembly for supporting the body of a person in essentially parallel relation, the center post assembly having a head support end and a foot support end, and having a mid-point pivotally secured to the horizontal bar; and adjustable piston means extending beneath the bar and coupling the T-shaped frame to the center post assembly so that the center post assembly may be rotated by more than ninety degrees between an essentially vertical orientation in which its foot support end is lowermost, and an inclined position in which the elevation of its foot support end is higher than

  • Patent number: 5020816
Abstract: A wheelchair having opposing sideframes which comprise individual frame sections which are connected by a longitudinally and angularly adjustable joint. The frame sections include a fixed base section connected to linear bar sections. The bar sections are provided with lateral slots containing slidable fasteners. Link elements having fasteners that engage the slidable fasteners join together the bar sections. The joint is movable along the bar section slots and is rotatable about the link fasteners. Similarly, adjunct wheelchair assemblies may all be adjustably connected to the slidable fasteners of selected frame bar sections. The sideframes can include side braces and may be connected by laterally adjustable spacer bars.

  • Patent number: 4966379
Abstract: A wheelchair having opposing sideframes each of which comprise a base section which is pivotally connected by a brace member to an inclinable seat section. An extender mechanism interconnects the seat section to a brace member and provides releasable securement for a wheelchair seat at selected angular positions. Backrest bars are independently adjustable with a similar extender mechanism that interconnects the bars with a respective seat section. The sideframes are spaced-apart with hinged spacer bars which includes a latching device for releasably securing the bars in an open position. The bar and frame sections have elongated slots containing fasteners for adjustable connections with fasteners from adjunct wheelchair assemblies.

  • Patent number: 4813746
Abstract: An angular bar is mounted on each opposing lower portion of a wheelchair frame for securement of the pelvis of a person seated in the wheelchair. Each bar has a side portion that extends across the lateral regions of the hip and a front portion that extends in front of the hips above the thighs. Universal adjustment means with a quick release mechanism are provided for independent adjustment of each arm.

  • Patent number: 4392668
Abstract: The improved shock-absorbing wheel suspension assembly of the present invention comprises a rigid yoke having a generally upstanding neck and a pair of downwardly diverging hollow tubular sleeves connected to the lower end of the neck, both sleeves being directed either rearwardly or forwardly relative to the neck. A pair of flexible resilient lever support arms are provided which have their upper ends extending into the sleeves. Their middle portions are generally parallel to each other and extend downwardly and in the same rearward or forward direction as the sleeves. The lower ends of the arms are angled to approximate each other in an about horizontal plane and are secured in the central hub of a wheel disposed therebetween. Thus, the wheel is disposed rearwardly or forwardly of the yoke and is adapted for rotation on an axle formed by the lower ends of the arms. The neck is connected to an upwardly extending stem, in turn connectable to the underside of the body of a vehicle or the like.

  • Patent number: 4029089
Abstract: A prone stander which is constructed of a main center post assembly which is inclineable to different positions with respect to a supporting base, the supporting base being mounted upon wheels. The user's feet are to be located upon a platform which is movable with respect to the center post assembly. There is a knee support, a hip support and a chest support mounted upon the center post assembly with the knee support and the chest support being adjustable in respect thereto. The knee support supports the knee both in the outward direction and in the inward direction. A tray can be attached to the prone stander.
