    Abstract: A breathing air compressor having an inlet air ultraviolet C light radiation emitter and viral and bacterial filtration system for air introduced into the air compressor. The viral and bacterial filtration system includes a cylindrical housing that includes a UVC radiation emitter mounted in a flow-through UVC radiation chamber, an inlet air particulate filter, and a flowmeter for measuring the volume and rate of flow of air to destroy viruses and bacteria present in any air flowing through the UVC chamber that is input air to an air compressor. The air compressor is typically used for generating breathing air for persons such as firemen and SCUBA divers. A controller and monitor unit is connected to the UVC radiation emitter and the flowmeter to shut down the air compressor to prevent air starvation.

    Abstract: An air/gas sampling apparatus is used to retrieve, store, and ship an air/gas sample from a high-pressure air/gas source. The air/gas sampling apparatus includes a filter housing having a filter housing inlet segment and a filter housing outlet segment. The filter housing inlet segment has an inlet orifice and defines a flow restrictor passage and is removably connected to the filter housing outlet segment, defining a filter chamber at a flow restrictor passage outlet where the filter chamber holds a filter pad. As the entirety of the air/gas sample flows into the flow restrictor passage and through the filter pad to ensure the quality of the test of the air sample, the flow restrictor passage reduces the air/gas sample flowing to the filter chamber. The filtered air/gas sample is consequently delivered to and stored in a sample bag that may be shipped to a testing facility for analysis.

The data collection equipment is used to collect data while the vehicles are being driven along roads by their respective users. In addition, a method for assigning a confidence level to geographic data is disclosed. The confidence level is assigned to the geographic data as an attribute. In addition, a method for determining a position of a vehicle by sensing roadside structures is disclosed. Data indicating positions of roadside structures are contained in a geographic database. By matching positions of sensed roadside structures to data in the geographic database that indicates the positions of the structures, the position of the vehicle while traveling can be determined.

    Abstract: A method of writing data onto a magnetic tape storage medium in the form of data blocks and error correction code blocks. Data is received from a data source and formatted into data and error correction code blocks. Data entities are created from the data and error correction code blocks. Data envelopes are defined to include one or more such data entities. The data envelopes are sequentially written onto the magnetic tape medium. The data and error correction blocks within the data envelopes may be arranged in any order without regard to the physical channel or positional placement. Blocks containing user data and those containing internally generated error recovery information are freely intermixed with random duplications allowed. Block placement topology heuristics can be freely applied within envelopes, and are typically driven by error handling considerations. Block write errors are repeated and migrated into other data channels as necessary.

All communication messages between the central panel and peripherals include a format code which indicates the nature of the message and the length of any data field in the message.     Abstract: Walk through test system for testing devices such as pull stations, smoke detectors, alarm bells and the like for alarm and trouble conditions without the assistance of a central panel operator. The devices are connected in a loop or loops distributed throughout one or more zones remote from a central panel. Alarm and trouble conditions are detected at the central panel. When a device is placed in alarm by the workman, a coded alarm is sounded which is aurally detectable by the workman at the location of the device, remote from the central panel. The coded alarm identifies the zone loop in which the device is connected. When a trouble condition is created in a loop by the workman, an alarm is sounded which is aurally detectable at the location of the loop, remote from the central panel. The alarm is coded to indicate to the workman that a trouble condition has been detected at the central panel.
