  • Publication number: 20220022858
Abstract: An intraluminal retractor includes a shapeable element formed by a series of shaping segments. The shaping segments may be associated with one another in a relaxed configuration that imparts the shapeable element with a linear, substantially linear or curvilinear shape to enable its insertion into an interior space within a subject's body. When actuated, the shaping segments may assume a contracted configuration that imparts the shapeable element with a desired shape, which may move an organ within which or against which the shapeable element is positioned, change a path of the organ and/or alter a shape of the organ. Methods for altering the locations, paths and/or shapes of organs are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200048952
Abstract: A theft prevention system is capable of filling an interior of a protected compartment (e.g., an armored vehicle, a vault, a safe, etc.) to prevent access to the interior of the protected compartment and/or to encapsulate contents of the protected compartment upon detection of a threat. Such a theft prevention system may include a threat detection element capable of monitoring an area within which the protected compartment is located for indicators of a threat to the vault and/or its contents (e.g., audible signals, visual signals, physical actions, etc.). Upon detecting a probable threat, the threat detection element may cause an encapsulant dispersal system to introduce an expandable encapsulating material into the interior of the protected compartment to prevent limit to the interior of the protected compartment and/or to prevent contents of the interior of the protected compartment from being removed therefrom. Theft prevention methods are also disclosed.
