  • Publication number: 20160273877
Abstract: Preventative gun safety devices and methods for their use are provided. These devices are useful for providing visual recognition and warning of a loaded gun, thereby reducing the potential for an accidental discharge of a loaded gun. Generally, the present invention is a device that is non-permanently attached to any gun and is comprised of a rectangular strip, thermoplastic strap-like member and generally using a hook and loop type tape to adhere to itself by wrapping circularly around itself to attach to the barrel or any part of any gun. A rectangular nylon pull tab is sewn permanently to one end of the strip with cautionary wording and symbols sewn or stamped onto it to identify the purpose of the device and to convey proper warning.

  • Patent number: 7837936
Abstract: A hand-held device detects the presence of a preselected substance in the breath. A deformable housing forms a test chamber for interacting an indicator reagent with the breath. The contents of the test chamber are exposed to the breath introduced into the chamber. The presence of a substance in the breath causes the indicator reagent to undergo a visually ascertainable change. The indicator reagent is secured within the test chamber between a pair of filter plugs having plural detents prevent slippage of the filters. Additional embodiments lower the user's risk of being cut by glass shards, prevent reagent inhalation, enhance the visual aspects of the device, and physically indicate the presence of breath flowing through the device.

  • Patent number: 7721292
Abstract: Program instructions, responsive to processor utilization being above a first predetermined upper threshold, automatically change a boot configuration file of the server to increase a number of real processors, physically resident within the server, allocated to LPAR effective upon a next boot-up of the server. Program instructions, responsive to the processor utilization being below a second predetermined lower threshold, automatically change a boot configuration file to decrease a number of the real processors, physically resident within the server, allocated to the LPAR effective upon a next boot-up of the server. Program instructions, responsive to the processor utilization being below a second predetermined lower threshold, automatically change a boot configuration file to decrease a number of the real processors, physically resident within the server, allocated to the LPAR effective upon a next boot-up of the server.

  • Patent number: 7285246
Abstract: A hand-held device detects the presence of a preselected substance in the breath. A deformable housing forms a test chamber for interacting an indicator reagent with the breath. An ampoule positioned inside the housing is ruptured by manual pressure through the walls of the housing. The contents of the ruptured ampoule are exposed to the breath introduced into the chamber. The presence of a substance in the breath causes the indicator reagent to undergo a visually ascertainable change. The ampoule is secured within the housing by a pair of filter plugs having inboard concavities to receive the rounded ends of the ampoule to center it within the housing, and plural detents prevent slippage of the filters. Additional embodiments lower the user's risk of being cut by glass shards, prevent reagent inhalation, enhance the visual aspects of the device, and physically indicate the presence of breath flowing through the device.

  • Publication number: 20020078069
Abstract: A file naming attribute is associated with a document template, document control object, or similar document-defining structure which includes at least one text string for a constant or fixed portion of file names for documents created utilizing the document-defining structure and at least one argument for computing a variable portion of the file names. The argument may require calculation of a time and/or date or of an incremental number, or require that the user be prompted for input. When a new document is created utilizing the document-defining structure, the file naming attribute is employed to automatically generate a file name for a discrete file into which the new document may be saved. by concatenating text string(s) for the fixed portion(s) and the calculated or received text string(s) for the variable portions(s). A document control object may also specify access restrictions, distribution, and backup for the newly created document.

  • Patent number: 4337598
Abstract: Automatic tracking of an endless belt, such as a coated abrasive belt, is provided by fitting the belt with at least one permanent magnet, preferably of a flexible, rubber bonded sheet-like variety such as is conveniently adhered to the backside of the belt. One or more magnetic sensors positioned transversely to a longitudinal line defined by the path of the magnets as the belt is driven between rollers detect the magnets in the event the belt exceeds an allowed extent of transverse movement, in which event a control signal is generated which activates a steering mechanism causing the belt to move in the opposite transverse direction.

  • Patent number: 4026555
Abstract: Keyboard-controlled apparatus for producing video signals for standard television receivers includes a random access memory having a multiplicity of storage positions each of which corresponds to a preselected discrete portion of the TV raster. Data stored in the random access memory is sequentially read from memory in synchronism with the scanning of the television receiver so that a desired video signal is generated at each discrete position of the cathode ray beam. Data is read into the random access memory at preselected storage positions depending upon a particular image to be displayed. The data writing process is under the control of a micro-processor which is programmed to cause the stored image data to be varied in accordance with the condition of the user-controlled keyboard.
