  • Patent number: 8156444
Abstract: Systems and methods for determining a user interface attribute are described. In one method described, a display processor receives a request to display a content display in a user interface, detects an area of the user interface comprising non-primary content, and creates a content display having an attribute, the attribute associated with the area of the user interface comprising non-primary content. Such a method may also include modifying the attribute in response to changes in the area of the user interface comprising non-primary content.

  • Patent number: 8131717
Abstract: A method may include identifying a linked document that is linked to by a group of linking documents; identifying links between the linking documents and the linked document; assigning a weight to each of the identified links; and determining a score for the linked document based on the identified links between the linking documents and the linked document, and the weights assigned to each of the identified links.

  • Patent number: 8131715
Abstract: A method may include identifying a group of documents; identifying linking documents that include links to the identified documents; assigning a measure of importance to one or more of the linking documents; and generating a score for each of the identified documents based on the measure of importance assigned to at least one of the linking documents that includes a link to the identified document.

  • Patent number: 8126884
Abstract: A method assigns importance ranks to nodes in a linked database, such as any database of documents containing citations, the world wide web or any other hypermedia database. The rank assigned to a document is calculated from the ranks of documents citing it. In addition, the rank of a document is calculated from a constant representing the probability that a browser through the database will randomly jump to the document. The method is particularly useful in enhancing the performance of search engine results for hypermedia databases, such as the world wide web, whose documents have a large variation in quality.

  • Publication number: 20120045042
Abstract: A multi-tiered communication system for minimizing communication latency for a caller in a remote location who initiates contact with a local data center. The system includes a local data center located in a first location including one or more Interactive Voice Recognition (IVR) functions that are configured for use with a caller who initiates contact with the local data center. The system also includes a remote media server located in a second location. The remote media server is configured to route an incoming call from the caller to the local data center, to route one or more IVR messages to the caller and to connect the caller with an agent for real-time communication. The agent is located in one of the second location or a third location that is substantially closer to the second location than the first location.

  • Patent number: 7908277
Abstract: A method may identify a document that includes a link that points to a linked document, determine a score for the link in the identified document based on a score of the linked document, modify the identified document based on the determined score, and provide the modified document.

  • Patent number: 7605844
Abstract: Systems and methods for capturing images of opposing pages in a bound document at high speed using multiple cameras are disclosed. The system generally includes a cradle preferably tilted toward an operator for holding a bound document having two opposing sides, and two cameras each positioned to capture an image of a corresponding side, each camera having an image capture size approximately the size of each side. The cameras may be high definition and store images via direct high speed data communication interfaces, e.g., firewire. A controller and/or foot pedal may provide control of the cameras. The controller may control flashes to selectively light each side simultaneous with each camera capturing the image of the corresponding side. A positioner may position a light-absorbing page between opposing sides.

  • Publication number: 20060020506
Abstract: Documents or document sets may be scored to reflect a value of an action, such as a selection for example, when an ad is served with the document (or a document belonging to a document set). A number of ads to be served with a document, and/or a type or level of branding to be provided to such ads, may then be controlled using the score. Document scores used in this way may help the ad serving system maintain and manage the quality of its brand. Further, a number of ads to be served, and/or a type or level of branding to be provided to such ads may be controlled using other factors that may affect end user perceptions of the quality of ads.

  • Patent number: 6799176
Abstract: A method is presented for scoring documents stored in a network. The method includes identifying links from linking documents to linked documents in the network and determining an importance of the identified links. The method further includes weighting the identified links based on the determined importance and scoring the linked documents based on the weighted links.
