This active ingredient is particularly useful in the topical treatment of viral infections, such as herpes simplex, genital herpes, genital warts, herpes zoster and chickenpox. The raw liquid juice, or the juice formulated in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, is topically administered to the surface lesion caused by the virus. Some components present of the active ingredient in the kukui nut hull juice include methyl esters of long chain fatty acids and their isomers.
