  • Patent number: 6142062
Abstract: The present invention provides a diaphragm member for use in certain valve assemblies. Such diaphragm member comprises a generally circular diaphragm having a first predetermined diameter and having a first surface and a second surface. Such generally circular diaphragm is formed from at least one layer of a preselected elastomeric material. Such generally circular diaphragm includes a nonflexing center portion, a generally annular flexure portion extending around an outer periphery of such nonflexing center portion and a non flexing outer portion extending around an outer periphery of such generally annular flexure portion, such non flexing outer portion is engageable with a body portion of such valve assembly. Such diaphragm member further includes a generally circular insert member, having a second predetermined diameter, disposed within the first surface of such nonflexing center portion of such generally circular diaphragm.

  • Patent number: 6142480
Abstract: An improved resilient type sealing member for use at least in an application which requires both sealing of an annular space between an inner surface of a first member and an adjacent outer surface of a second member at least partially disposed for reciprocal movement within such first member and for providing support to such second member during such reciprocal movement. The improved resilient type sealing member includes a generally round resilient disc-like member having each of a first predetermined diameter and a predetermined thickness. Such resilient disc-like member includes a pair of radially opposed and substantially flat parallel side portions. A first groove, having a first predetermined shape and a first predetermined depth, is formed in a first one of such pair of radially opposed and substantially flat parallel side portions. Such first groove being disposed closely adjacent an outer edge of the resilient disc-like member.

  • Patent number: 5899435
Abstract: A valve seal system for passageway through a valve body emerging through a first generally flat and rigid surface, having a valve member including a resilient seal with generally flat exposed surface adapted to be brought into contact with the generally flat rigid surface, and having a generally circular, raised resilient ring portion extending from the generally flat exposed surface, the raised resilient ring portion adapted to be compressed against the generally flat rigid surface to seal the resilient seals against the generally flat rigid surface when said valve member is moved to a closed position by virtue of the raised resilient ring portion being compressed against the generally flat rigid surface.

  • Patent number: 5836571
Abstract: The present invention provides a combination disc diaphragm assembly which comprises a disc portion having a first configuration and includes a round center portion having a first diameter and a first thickness. It further includes a round outer portion connected to and extending outwardly from an outer periphery of such center portion adjacent a bottom surface. The outer portion has a second diameter which is greater than such first diameter. The outer portion has a second thickness which is less than the first thickness. The disc also has a domed shaped cavity formed in the bottom surface and having a first radius. There is a diaphragm member having a second configuration and a third diameter which is greater than the second diameter of the disc. The diaphragm has a first side with a dome shaped projection disposed on a center portion. The domed shaped projection has a second radius. The first side of the diaphragm has a generally flat surface adjacent the dome shaped center.

  • Patent number: 5303937
Abstract: A method of forming a rubber seal containing a metal insert where a transfer mold having a cavity is provided with a post and a plurality of upwardly extending arcuated bosses on the base of the cavity. A metallic insert is disposed on the bosses and a flowable rubber material forced into the mold cavity and envelopes the metallic insert to form the rubber ring seal. The rubber seal produced has a plurality of spaced, aligned arcuate grooves in a flat planar surface of the base extending inwardly towards the embedded metallic insert.
