  • Patent number: 5661635
Abstract: A reusable housing receives a memory card containing a machine-readable storage medium to interface with a device having a PC card interface within a PC card slot. The memory card has a plurality of connection points for externally accessing the machine-readable storage medium. The reusable housing includes a housing member which removably receives and retains the memory card. The housing member has an exterior dimensioned to allow insertion thereof in the PC card slot. A PC card connector is positioned on the housing member to interface with the PC card interface when the housing member is inserted in the PC card slot. The reusable housing further includes an interface which receives the plurality of connection points when the memory card is received by the housing member and connects the plurality of connection points to the PC card connector to facilitate communication between the machine-readable storage medium and the PC card interface.

  • Patent number: 4425625
Abstract: A diagnostic display terminal system for remotely troubleshooting hardware, software and operational malfunctions in a computer over telephone lines includes a user-site diagnostic display terminal assembly and a support-site diagnostic display terminal assembly. Each diagnostic display terminal assembly includes a microprocessor controlled display terminal, a telephone instrument and a split baud rate modem, the modem serving to interface the display terminal and the telephone instrument to a telephone line. The system provides alternate voice and data communication between the user-site and the support-site and permits almost instantaneous change-over between voice and data. The telephone link effectively merges the two display terminals together in that each display terminal can monitor the actions of the other and that each display terminal can run all programs executable at the user-site display terminal.

  • Patent number: 4097729
Abstract: A scanning system and method for reading coded indicia carried on containers, etc., the system and method including means for generating in a predetermined sequence a first light pattern, and a second light pattern, and means for focusing same at a window over which containers carrying the coded indicia are positioned. The disclosure also includes a mirrored rotatable polygon structure including a plurality of mirrors, some of which are inclined at a positive angle and the others which are positioned at a negative angle with respect to the polygon axis of rotation as well as means for adjusting the incline of the mirrors.

  • Patent number: 4059224
Abstract: A method of reading on a record medium a two level code representing at least one character of a set of characters, each character having six consecutive transitional occurrences between the two levels of the code comprising: scanning the record medium to derive a time based electrical signal representative of said transitional occurrences; measuring four periods between alternate ones of said transitional occurrences; comparing each two overlapping periods to generate three ratios, each ratio representing not more than one of three possible values of nearly one, smaller than one and larger than one, and; decoding the values arrived at for said three ratios to define a character. The arrangement of the coded indicia on the record medium or the font of type for imprinting the same is such that, for each character, not more than two bits of the same level are arranged consecutively and two consecutive bits of a first level are not immediately followed by two consecutive bits of a second level.
