  • Patent number: 9929903
Abstract: A method of configuring a data network with a controller, the data network including a plurality of hosts each associated with at least one of a plurality of switches, the method including receiving a request to boot an operating system image on one of the plurality of hosts, the operating system image having network connectivity requirements. Further, the method includes selecting a host out of the plurality of hosts on which to boot the operating system image. The method also includes booting the operating system image on the host, and configuring a switch out of the plurality of switches associated with the host based upon the network connectively requirements of the operating system image. • Patent number: 7814274
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product for dynamically binding a server to a remote disk in a data center is provided. In a data center, servers and storage devices that manage multiple remote disks communicate over a switched fabric by using a standard protocol suite. The servers, storage devices and the switched fabric constitute a Storage Area Network (SAN). The devices present on the SAN are assigned a virtual identity, independent of their physical identity. The virtual identity of the servers facilitates the dynamic instantiation of the server images located on multiple remote disks on the servers.

  • Patent number: 7574491
Abstract: A system and a method for implementing a virtual data center. In which, the functions to be performed by a computer, and the access the computer equipment is required to have to the storage and network facilities, are decoupled from the hardware, and instantiated dynamically on any suitable computer equipment, without any manual intervention. In a virtual data center, all the physical resources are virtualized and arranged dynamically, to meet the functional requirements of the data center.

  • Publication number: 20040203670
Abstract: Improved techniques for reducing delays faced by users of mobile devices due to unavailability of wireless networks are disclosed. The techniques facilitate the reduction of delays faced by users of mobile devices during unavailability of wireless networks. A first technique allows mobile devices to communicate with remote servers using asynchronous communications, namely asynchronous requests. Such asynchronous communications allow the processing at a mobile device to continue while the asynchronous request is processed in the background. A second technique pertains to the use of content channels with mobile devices. The content channels are stored and retained in cache memory so that their resources are guaranteed to be locally available, regardless of availability of wireless networks. A third technique pertains to improved list processing within mobile devices such that lists can be manipulated without server interaction. These various techniques can be used separately or in combination.

  • Publication number: 20040050384
Abstract: Fire-resistant containers made with inorganic polymer material. One type of container comprises a hollow body in the form of a matrix of inorganic polymer material. Other types of containers comprise a shell of non-inorganic polymer having interior or exterior surfaces treated with inorganic polymer material. Optionally, the hollow body further comprises filler material bound in the inorganic polymer material. For example, the filler material may comprise wound filaments. Some types of containers, e.g., munitions containers and firesafes, comprise a hollow body having an opening covered by a door, lid, or other closure device, the hollow body and closure device comprising inorganic polymer material.

  • Patent number: 6360471
Abstract: An aiming device which incorporates into its sight picture a corner shape for aligning with the target, and which aligns two components to form a meaningful shape or image. Meaningful is defined as a shape or image readily recognizable to the one aiming the device, such as a triangle, teardrop, arrowhead, spade shape (as seen in playing cards), rhombus, rectangle, square or any other shape that is easily recognized as a distinctive shape to the person aiming.
