Abstract: A carrying case for small items like cell telephones is easily attached to a person's belt or other object such as an automobile dashboard. The carrying case and the attachment means utilize a male and a female element that are easily engaged in seating relationship with each other. When engaged, the elements may be secured to each other by means of a moveable bifurcated plate that can be slid into engagement with a groove on the male element.

Abstract: An all plastic clip for a portable electronic device is described. The clip includes a housing having a cradle for receiving a flange attached to the portable telephone and a back plate closing the housing. A latch inside the housing includes a detent extending through an orifice in the housing wall into the cradle. The latch release includes a release button disposed in an opening in the top of the housing. A displacement tine extends from the release button and includes a displacement ramp for interacting with a lifting slope on the latch. A resiliently flexible tongue also extends to the latch. In use, the release button is pushed and the displacement ramp interacts with the lifting slope to displace the latch and release the device. When the release button is released, the resiliently flexible tongue urges the latch back into the locking position.

The plate has a first projection (122), a second projection (124) and a first surface area (118) for receiving a decorative image (120). At least a portion of the first projection runs at least substantially along a vertical axis (V1) of the plate, and the plate also includes a surface area (126) for receiving a decorative image (128). The locking system further includes a base (112) having a first slot (136) and a second slot (138) in which the first slot and the second slot run at least substantially along horizontal axes (H1, H2) of the base. The first slot detachably receives the first projection when the plate is in a first position, and the second slot detachably receives the second projection as the plate is turned to a second position.
