  • Patent number: 8082698
Abstract: A light weight modular enclosure that may be easily assembled by a user and mounted on a utility trailer or pickup truck includes a plurality of modular foam-encapsulated side panel assemblies and two foam-encapsulated corner panel assemblies arranged in adjacent positions in U-shaped anchor channels secured along three edges of a rectangular floorboard to form a front wall and two side walls of the modular enclosure. The side panel and corner panel assemblies each include a plurality of molded key pins and key sockets that are positioned for mating engagement to secure the panel assemblies in strict alignment when adjacently positioned in the anchor channels. A door frame assembly fits into the open rear end of the modular enclosure. A pop-up canopy assembly is installed over the top of the modular enclosure to provide additional head room during use.

  • Patent number: 6041742
Abstract: A fluid heating and pumping apparatus for use with hot fluid space heating systems includes a fluid tank containing heated fluid and a collapsible bladder contained within the fluid tank for absorbing expansion of the fluid within the fluid tank as it is heated. An air venting device is mounted at a high point in the fluid tank to discharge any air as the heating system is filled with fluid and operated. A fluid circulating impeller, volute, and pressure bypass valve apparatus are also contained within the fluid tank and are connected to an outlet in the fluid tank through which heated fluid is pumped to heat transfer components of a space heating system. A fluid mixing apparatus is attached to the fluid circulating impeller to mix heated fluid from the fluid tank with cooled fluid returned from the heat transfer components to thereby provide fluid having a desired temperature.

  • Patent number: 4907739
Abstract: A radiant heating system especially useful for floor heating is provided with a fluid flow apparatus that includes means for pumping a fluid such as water, a temperature-responsive actuator and a valve positionable within a valve housing in response to measured fluid temperature. The system includes heat transfer means, typically a tube embedded in the floor that receives heated fluid from the flow apparatus which in turn receives fluid at generally a higher temperature from a fluid heating apparatus such as a water boiler. The amount of heated fluid recirculated to the heat transfer means is controlled by the position of the valve in the valve housing.

  • Patent number: 4878332
Abstract: An electric radiant heating system for heating building interior living and working space. The system comprises an electric resistance heating cable embedded in a cementitious thermal mass for transferring thermal energy to the thermal mass when an electric current is applied to the cable. The system utilizes a wall-mountable line voltage thermostat control to detect the temperature of the surrounding air, compare it to a selectable reference temperature, and perform a number of functions automatically depending on the results of the temperature comparison. High limit sensors, composed of bimetal strips, detect the temperature of the electric heating cable, sending a signal to the control means to interrupt power to the electric heating system when the electric resistance heating cable reaches a predetermined temperature. Cable-retaining hardware secures the electric resistance heating cable at regularly spaced intervals to the subfloor.

  • Patent number: 4770341
Abstract: A manifold which is useful in receiving a heated liquid such as warm water from a suitable source and for distributing that liquid to a plurality of floor heat exchangers and for receiving liquid from the heat exchangers and returning that liquid to the source. The manifold includes a plurality of separate manifold elements that can be stacked adjacent one another, each element having a first and second chamber. The first and second chambers of the elements together define first and second distribution vessels within the manifold. Each manifold element includes inlet and outlet ports communicating with the respective distribution vessels for carrying liquid to and from the heat exchangers. The manifold elements desirably are integrally formed from plastic or other material exhibiting a coefficient thermal conductivity of less than 1.0 kcal/M h .degree.C.
