Abstract: A computer-implemented method for simulating file system instances may include identifying a file system to host a simulated file system instance. The computer-implemented method may also include intercepting attempts to read from the file system. The computer-implemented method may further include, for each intercepted read attempt, generating data to fulfill the intercepted read attempt. The computer-implemented method may additionally include fulfilling the intercepted read attempt with the generated data. Abstract: Techniques for file classification information retention are disclosed. In one particular exemplary embodiment, the techniques may be realized as a method for file classification information retention comprising receiving an indication of creation of an email attachment, determining, using at least one computer processor, whether to extract file classification information for the email attachment, and in the event file classification information is extracted, storing the extracted file classification information in association with the email.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for using data archiving to expedite server migration may include: 1) archiving data from at least one source computing system to an archiving system in accordance with an archiving policy, 2) altering metadata associated with the archived data on the archiving system so that the metadata references a desired target computing system instead of the source computing system, and then, upon bringing the target computing system online, 3) restoring at least a portion of the archived data from the archiving system to the target computing system.
