  • Publication number: 20240078932
Abstract: A patient simulator including one or more simulated limbs or limb portions and a simulated torso. The simulated torso includes an upper torso bracket, a lower torso bracket, and an articulation joint via which the upper and lower torso brackets are pivotably connected. Each of the one or more simulated limbs or limb portions is connected, at least indirectly, to the upper torso bracket or the lower torso bracket. The patient simulator may further include a simulated head or head portion connected, at least indirectly, to the upper torso bracket. The one or more simulated limbs or limb portions may include one or more simulated arms or arm portions connected, at least indirectly, to the upper torso bracket. Additionally, or alternatively, the one or more simulated limbs or limb portions may include one or more simulated legs or leg portions connected, at least indirectly, to the lower torso bracket.

  • Patent number: 9757349
Abstract: Use of cilastatin to reduce the nephrotoxicity of different compounds. The invention refers to use of cilastatin to prepare a medicinal product to reduce the nephrotoxicity of a nephrotoxic compound that enters the cells of the proximal tubule through cholesterol rafts. The invention is based on the discovery that a great number of nephrotoxic compounds, including drugs, enter the cells of the proximal tubule through the cholesterol rafts, and that cilastatin is able to interfere with this transport mechanism, decreasing the nephrotoxicity of such compounds to a variable extent. The nephroprotective effect is common to compounds of different chemical nature and solubility and is specific for the kidney, causing no interference with the effects of nephrotoxic drugs having their targets in other organs. Therefore, administration of cilastatin allows for decreasing the nephrotoxic effects of different drugs without reducing their therapeutic effects.

  • Publication number: 20110203640
Abstract: The invention relates to a solar tracking device for panels. The device includes a modular structure in which each module is formed by a plurality of pairs of coplanar panels (1) which are fixed to the ends of respective shafts (2) arranged at right angles to a longitudinal pivoting shaft (4) mounted on suitable supports secured to the ground. The pivoting shafts (4) of the modules (8) rotate simultaneously, each including a first radial arm (9) connected to a first common connecting rod (10). In turn, the coupling shafts (2) of each pair of panels (1) of a single module rotate simultaneously, each including respective second parallel radial arms (16), the free ends of which are hingeably connected to a second common connecting rod (15). One of the pivoting shafts (4) is rotated by means of a first linear actuator (11) which is secured to the ground and to a mounting box (13) for a radial lever (12) thereof.

  • Patent number: 4185828
Abstract: An air pressurized game machine has a self-contained unitary multi-way valve assembly having at least one positive air pressure supply inlet with a multiplicity of positive air pressure outlets each having separate actuators for controlling air to tubes to perform different functions. A lot mixing or agitating chamber has horizontal and vertical outlets for blowing air in these respective directions and the lot is captured and then may be manually positioned in holes in a grid. The bottom of the holes are closed by air actuated flaps. A box below the flaps captures the lot and additional tubes can agitate the lot in the box or return it to the agitating chamber. An additional function is a roulette wheel rotated under action of the forced air.
