  • Patent number: 6235837
Abstract: The invention relates to an article based on a mixture of polyamide and polyolefin, which article includes at least one weld line due to multi-port injection molding, said article characterized in that the ratio of the viscosities of the polyolefin to the polyamide, measured at a shear rate higher than 100 s−1, is greater than 0.70, and that the quantity of polyamide is sufficient for the elongation at break to be greater than 10%. A typical application is the production of an injection molded automobile fender.

  • Patent number: 6179430
Abstract: A motor vehicle heating, ventilating and/or air conditioning installation has a control panel comprising a light box which consists of a housing comprising a housing member with an open side closed by a front wall of the control panel, and a light source within the housing. The front wall is of translucent material made opaque on its front face except in lighting zones which define illuminated indicia. Some of the lighting zones have a first thickness, while others are of different thicknesses, so that the luminance of the lighting zones at the front face of the front wall is modified locally. In this way, imperfections in the light box arising from differences in luminance in the illuminated indicia can be compensated for.

  • Patent number: 5911468
Abstract: A clamp-like device for the fastening of an element to a metal sheet part of a vehicle, comprising a tongue directly cut out in the metal sheet of the vehicle part and suitably shaped in accordance with the element to be held, the device being applicable to an automotive vehicle and in particular to the fastening of electric cable or piping harnesses.

  • Patent number: 5820467
Abstract: A homokinetic joint for linking a driving shaft and a driven shaft of an automotive steering column for transmission of rotation between the driving shaft and the driven shaft. The joint has two opposite end yokes with a coupling yoke intermediate the two end yokes. The end yokes each have an end hub for linking a respective one of the shafts thereto and branched arms defining a yoke or fork opposite the hub for linking the end yoke to the coupling yoke. Two pivotable cross-pieces link the two end yokes respectively to the coupling yoke for positioning the axes of the shafts for homokinetic transmission of torque. A center ball joint unit has a ball stud and spherical ball fixed on one of the end yokes and a guide carried by the other of the end yokes. A sleeve is disposed in the guide and the ball is disposed in the sleeve. The spherical ball is angularly movable in the sleeve for angular offset variation between the shafts during transmission of torque.

  • Patent number: 4565635
Abstract: Aqueous media, e.g., potable waters, are treated/purified by flocculation utilizing, as the flocculant therefor, that flocculating adjuvant adapted for ready dispersion/dissolution in such media comprising intimate admixture of a water soluble gum, polymer or biogum heteropolysaccharide, a dispersion/dissolution enhancing amount of a water donor material, and, advantageously, an anionic and/or nonionic surfactant.

  • Patent number: 4492361
Abstract: A flap (11) for controlling the flow of air in a duct, in particular in a heater or air conditioner installation for the cabin of a motor vehicle, comprises an assembly of two half-flaps (12) applied against each other and each having projecting hollow stiffener ribs (13) disposed substantially opposite to one another, to constitute a hollow box structure. A sealing ring (17) is moulded over touching peripheral rims (16) of the half-flaps. For given stiffness, this structure may four or five times lighter than a conventional sheet metal flap, thereby reducing the force needed to actuate the flap.

  • Patent number: 4383879
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cement which may be used for the fixation of osseous prostheses. This cement is obtained by hardening of a mixture comprising:(a) at least one epoxide resin having a high reactivity and a very low toxicity, consisting of a diepoxide of a glycidyl ether of bisphenol A;(b) a reactive, non-toxic suppling resin, consisting preferably of hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene;(c) a mineral filler in powder form;(d) a hardener capable of reacting with said epoxide resin to effect hardening thereof, and(e) a hardening accelerator. The invention is more particularly applicable to the fixation of hip prostheses.

  • Patent number: 4363733
Abstract: A water treatment process is provided wherein water of a pH in the range of about 6 to 9 is treated with a flocculating agent, most preferably, an iron or aluminum comprising flocculating agent, and a flocculation additive comprising a heteropolysaccharide generated by the action of bacteria of the genus Xanthomonas or Arthrobacter, or fungi of the genus Sclerotium. The flocculating agent is added initially to the water, with the heteropolysaccharide comprising flocculation additive being added subsequent thereto. The process finds particular utility in the purification of potable waters.

  • Patent number: 4261292
Abstract: According to a characteristic feature of the present invention, the conve moves in an alternating fashion, and the milking operation takes place over two outward and two inward journeys. During the first outward journey, the sheep join the conveyor and receive their teat cups as they pass in front of an operator; during the first inward journey, the milking continues; during the second outward journey, the teat cups are removed as the sheep pass in front of the operator and are freed from the retaining apparatus to leave the parlor; and during the second inward journey, the conveyor returns empty to the initial position.
