  • Patent number: 10630357
Abstract: According to various aspects, techniques to enable implicit and/or explicit transmit (Tx) beamforming in a wireless personal area network are provided. In particular, the implicit transmit beamforming may be enabled during certain events, frames, and/or other conditions when a channel between a beamformer and a beamformee is reciprocal (i.e., packets are received and transmitted on the same frequency). In such cases, the beamformer may estimate channel state information (CSI) based on a packet received from the beamformee and use the estimated CSI to steer a beam in a direction towards the beamformee. In use cases that implement explicit transmit beamforming, the beamformee may estimate the CSI based on a packet received from the beamformer and provide the estimated CSI to the beamformer, which may then use the estimated CSI received from the beamformee to steer a beam in a direction towards the beamformee.

  • Patent number: 10560829
Abstract: In one aspect, a method of wireless communication by a wireless device includes generating, by the wireless device, a protocol data unit (PDU) header and a corresponding PDU payload of an angle of arrival (AoA) packet. The generating of the PDU payload includes inserting a supplemental field and a cyclic redundancy check (CRC) field into the PDU payload. The supplemental field is configured to enable another wireless device to determine an angle of arrival of the AoA packet and the CRC field corresponds to a CRC of at least the supplemental field. The method also includes transmitting the AoA packet with a single antenna of the wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20190273577
Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may receive a data packet that includes at least in part a preamble, an encoded block, and a payload. The apparatus may detect the preamble of the data packet at a last symbol of the preamble or prior to the last symbol of the preamble. The apparatus may compute a branch metric for each of a plurality of transitions between states. The apparatus may initialize a path metric for each of a plurality of non-synchronization states and synchronization states. In certain aspects, each of the synchronization states may be associated with the preamble. The apparatus may determine a survivor path for each of the non-synchronization states and synchronization states based at least in part on a respective path metric. The apparatus may determine a traceback timing.

  • Publication number: 20190103940
Abstract: A method for securing Bluetooth communications. The method includes receiving, by a target wireless device, a security level indication from a source wireless device using one or more receiver antennas of the target wireless device. The method also includes determining, by the target wireless device, a jammer signal power level based on the security level indication and generating, by the target wireless device, the jammer signal based on the jammer signal power level. The method also includes transmitting, by the target wireless device, the jammer signal using one or more transmitter antennas of the target wireless device and receiving at least a portion of a communication from the source wireless device using the one or more receiver antennas of the target wireless device.

  • Publication number: 20190090081
Abstract: Using the modulation scheme and/or coding techniques of traditional BLE may limit not only the data rate, but also limit the amount that the transmit power of a BLE air interface packet can be reduced due to receiver sensitivity. Namely, the lowest signal power level from which a receiving device may obtain information without meeting a BER threshold may limit the amount that the transmit power at the transmitter side can be reduced. There exists a need to transmit a BLE air interface packet using a modulation rate that is greater than 1 Mbps or 2 Mbps, enables a further reduction in transmit power, and/or enables an increase in receiver sensitivity. The present disclosure provides a solution by applying a coding technique and a PSK modulation scheme to a BLE air interface packet that increases data rate and reduces the sensitivity of the receiving device as compared to traditional BLE.

  • Publication number: 20190007153
Abstract: A wireless communication device for concurrent transmission is described. The wireless communication device includes a first transmitter that sends a first transmit packet on a first frequency. The wireless communication device also includes a second transmitter that sends a second transmit packet on a second frequency that overlaps in time with the first transmit packet. The wireless communication device further includes a processor that coordinates when the first and second transmit packets end such that a first receive packet does not overlap in time with a second receive packet or the second transmit packet. The wireless communication device additionally includes a demodulator that demodulates both the first receive packet in response to the first transmit packet and the second receive packet in response to the second transmit packet.
