  • Patent number: 10489302
Abstract: An emulated input/output memory management unit (IOMMU) includes a management processor to perform page table translation in software. The emulated IOMMU can also include a hardware input/output translation lookaside buffer (IOTLB) to store translations between virtual addresses and physical memory addresses. When a translation from a virtual address to a physical address is not found in the IOTLB for an I/O request, the translation can be generated by the management processor using page tables from a memory and can be stored in the IOTLB. Some embodiments can be used to emulate interrupt translation service for message based interrupts for an interrupt controller.

  • Patent number: 10484015
Abstract: A data storage system includes multiple head nodes and data storage sleds. The data storage sleds include multiple mass storage devices and a sled controller. Respective ones of the head nodes are configured to obtain credentials for accessing particular portions of the mass storage devices of the data storage sleds. A sled controller of a data storage sled determines whether a head node attempting to perform a write on a mass storage device of a data storage sled that includes the sled controller is presenting with the write request a valid credential for accessing the mass storage devices of the data storage sled. If the credentials are valid, the sled controller causes the write to be performed and if the credentials are invalid, the sled controller returns a message to the head node indicating that it has been fenced off from the mass storage device.

  • Patent number: 10437748
Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and computer-readable storage media are disclosed for core-to-core communication between physical and/or virtual processor cores. In some examples of the disclosed technology, application cores write notification data (e.g., to doorbell or PCI configuration memory space accesses via a memory interface), without synchronizing with the other application cores or the service cores. In one examples of the disclosed technology, a message selection circuit is configured to, serialize data from the plurality of user cores by: receiving data from a user core, selecting one of the service cores to send the data based on a memory location addressed by the sending user core, and sending the received data to a respective message buffer dedicated to the selected service core.

  • Publication number: 20190173789
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for connection establishment over a network that does not require a user application to establish an explicit connection with a target application. In some implementations, provided is an apparatus configured to communicate with a network and a host device. The apparatus may receive a message and destination information associated with the message from the host device. The apparatus may further determine, using the destination information, a transport context from a plurality of transport contexts. The transport context may include a state of a connection with a destination on the network. The destination on the network may be associated with the destination information.

  • Patent number: 10261935
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for detecting excessive use of a peripheral device by host processes. In various implementations, a peripheral device can include an integrated circuit that includes a traffic counter. The traffic counter can increment based on events received by the peripheral device. The peripheral device can further include an integrated circuit device configured to associate the traffic counter with a process executing on a host device. The integrated circuit device can further initialize a rate counter for the process. When the rate counter reaches a pre-determined time limit, the integrated circuit device can determine that the process is exceeding a usage limit. The integrated circuit device can further read a value from the traffic counter to verify usage of the peripheral device by the process.

  • Patent number: 10218576
Abstract: Technologies for performing controlled bandwidth expansion are described. For example, a storage server can receive a request from a client to read compressed data. The storage server can obtain individual storage units of the compressed data. The storage server can also obtain a compressed size and an uncompressed size for each of the storage units. The storage server can generate network packet content comprising the storage units and associated padding such that the size of the padding for a given storage is based on the uncompressed and compressed sizes of the given storage unit. The storage server can send the network packet content to the client in one or more network packets. The client can receive the network packets, discard the padding, and decompress the compressed data from the storage units.

  • Patent number: 10212138
Abstract: A hardware security accelerator includes a configurable parser that is configured to receive a packet and to extract from the packet headers associated with a set of protocols. The security accelerator also includes a packet type detection unit to determine a type of the packet in response to the set of protocols and to generate a packet type identifier indicative of the type of the packet. A configurable security unit includes a configuration unit and a configurable security engine. The configuration unit configures the configurable security engine according to the type of the packet and to content of at least one of the headers extracted from the packet. The configurable security engine performs security processing of the packet to provide at least one security result.

  • Publication number: 20180278540
Abstract: Provided are systems and methods for reliable, out-of-order receipt of packets. In some implementations, provided is an apparatus configured to communicate with a network and a host device. The apparatus may receive packets over the network at a receive queue. The packets may originate from a source on the network, and may be received out of order. The apparatus may further, for each received packet, identify a transport context associated with the source and a destination of the packet, and determine whether the packet can be accepted. Upon determining that the packet can be accepted, the apparatus may further identify the one receive queue at which the packet was received; determine a user application to receive the packet, transfer the packet from the one receive queue to a buffer in host memory, and identify an order in which the packet was received with respect to other packets.

  • Patent number: 9740416
Abstract: Methods, apparatus and computer program products implement embodiments of the present invention that include defining, in a storage system including receiving, by a storage system, a storage request, and identifying, based on the storage request, one or more storage management units. For each of the storage management units, a master partition table having multiple master entries and one or more backup partition tables is identified, each of the backup partition tables having backup entries in a one-to-one-correspondence with the master entries. Upon detecting a failure in master partition table, one of the backup partition tables is configured as a replacement master partition table, essential metadata is used to calculate non-essential metadata in the replacement master partition table, and the calculated non-essential metadata is stored to the replacement master partition table.
