  • Patent number: 7490615
Abstract: A brush for styling hair has a handle connected to a head with the head having a longitudinal axis and a number of stationary teeth and a number of movable teeth. The stationary teeth and the movable teeth both are arranged in a number of rows. The stationary teeth and the movable teeth are aligned with one another in a first position. The movable teeth traverse an amount in a direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis to a second position. The movable teeth in the second position are misaligned relative to the stationary teeth. The stationary teeth and the movable teeth tension hair disposed therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20070133962
Abstract: There is provided a reheatable steam-cleaning device (10) that can be used with or without a power cord (30), including a pressure vessel (12) and a power base station (14). The preferred embodiment features a power base station (14) working in conjunction with the steam pressure vessel (12) to allow for a “cord, cordless” system that can eliminate the limitations of a power cord and keep the vessel enclosure (32), water and steam at the proper temperature for an extended period of time for spot cleaning or cleaning in a relatively small area. The vessel enclosure (32), water and steam can be easily reheated for continued use by placing the pressure vessel on a vessel plug (28) located on a support plate (26) of the power base station (14). The power base station (14) also features a locking system that can enable the steam-cleaning device (10) to be used in a continuous operation for large cleaning areas by locking the pressure vessel (12) to the power base station (14).

  • Publication number: 20070114219
Abstract: A heated hairdryer employs flat, thick film ceramic heaters. The ceramic heaters are high Watt density, low mass, resistance heaters that operate at a high temperature. A conductor is applied to one or both sides of either a fired or green ceramic plate. The conductor is then applied in circuit tracks upon the ceramic surface or surfaces. The conductive material is then covered by a second plate or by glass or other high temperature enamel to prevent the conductive circuit from oxidizing. The plate is then fired at high temperatures. These ceramic heaters can be formed into a variety of configurations for use as hairdrying heating elements.

  • Publication number: 20060037625
Abstract: A hair-straightening device has a pair of opposing arms joined by a hinge, which enables the opening and closing of the arms. At the ends of the arms, opposite the hinge, are plates that are heated to a temperature sufficient to straighten the hair. The outer portion of the ends of the arms that are located opposite the hinge can be covered with a flocking material to provide a cooler touch to allow a user to obtain a firmer grip with both hands on the device for more efficient use. In addition, a user can apply hair products directly to flocked ends of the device and transfer the hair products to hair that is warmer than when the hair products are applied directly to the hair.

  • Publication number: 20050087205
Abstract: There is provided a hair styling tool suitable for styling hair. The hair styling tool has a handle portion with a pair of pivotally connected arms. The hair styling tool also has a hair engaging portion with one or more hair contacting elements. The hair contacting elements provide a hair styling effect. Hair contacting elements have apertures and/or perforated grooves disposed therein. The hair contacting elements can be removably connected to the styling tool to selectively accomplish various hair styling techniques and/or effects in an efficient and versatile manner to reduce the duration and/or degree to which hair is exposed to styling damage.
