  • Patent number: 4720645
Abstract: The dual output alternator has a three phase stator winding with three terminals. A first set of three diodes is provided, each of which has its anode connected to a different one of the three winding terminals. The cathodes of the diodes of the first set are connected together and to a first output terminal. A second set of three diodes is provided each of which has its anode connected to a different one of the three winding terminals. The cathodes of the diodes of the second set are connected together and to a second output terminal. A third set of three diodes is provided, each of which has its cathode connected to a different one of the winding terminals and its anode connected to ground.A metal housing is provided for supporting the stator winding. Two metallic heat sink members are supported in the housing near one end wall thereof, spaced from each other and electrically insulated from the housing.

  • Patent number: 4454464
Abstract: An automatic feedback and control system for operating a load off of a multi-phase rectified rotary field system of a motor vehicle and for increasing the voltage and current to the load upon demand. The multi-phase rectified rotary field system comprises a rotatable coil for forming the rotary field when excited and stationary windings having an output coupled thereto by way of rectifier means. A DC power supply is coupled to said output. A regulator is provided having an input coupled to the DC power supply and and output coupled to the rotatable coil. Non-polarized capacitors are provided and a switch is coupled to the capacitors and to the DC power supply. The switch when closed, electrically connects the capacitors between the stationary windings and the rotatable coil and electrically connects the DC power supply to the rotatable coil.

  • Patent number: 4347473
Abstract: In an emergency vehicle having dual batteries, one of which is employed for supplying power to the electrical system of the vehicle chassis and the other of which is employed for supplying power to the emergency equipment, dual alternators driven by the engine are provided for charging the batteries. The output of each alternator is connected to the input of its regulator and to both batteries whereby both alternators will be on at all times when the engine is running and will share the load on either or both batteries.

  • Patent number: 4161683
Abstract: The specification discloses an improved motor vehicle alternator adapted to be coupled to a regenerative feed-back system. The stator of the alternator has fourteen coils per phase, each coil having three turns. The wire is 13 A.W.G. electrically conductive. The feed-back system has the output of the multi-phase alternator coupled to its rotary field to self-excite the alternator when current is drawn from the output by a welding unit or other type of load. A DC power supply is employed normally to excite the rotary field during no load conditions.
