Patent number: 9915385Abstract: A fitting includes a hollow body, a sealing member, and a draw mechanism. The fitting mechanism includes a primary actuation element coupled with the body at a first end, and a plurality of secondary actuation elements coupled to the sealing member. The plurality of secondary actuation elements are positioned in an interior of the hollow body and circumferentially spaced from each other. The plurality of secondary actuation elements are also engaged with the primary actuation element such that actuation of the primary actuation element draws the plurality of secondary actuation elements axially towards the opening at the first end of the hollow body thereby translating the sealing member from an open position to a sealing position.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2016Date of Patent: March 13, 2018Assignee: Romac Industries, Inc.Inventors: Delbert Eaton, Lee Getzewich, David R. Albin

Publication number: 20100170834Abstract: Portable apparatus, systems and methods for the selective removal of contaminants from a fluid medium through the use of hollow fiber media (“HFM”). Apparatus embodiments include a housing defining an inlet portion, an outlet portion and a chamber fluidly coupled there between for receiving hollow fiber media, in either bulk or cartridge form, wherein the media is hydrophilic and/or hydrophobic. Passive, i.e., gravity fed or active, i.e., mechanically pressurized versions are disclosed. Apparatus may further include user reversible/replaceable check valves, a receptacle fitting adaptor to allow the use of a variety of receiving containers with a single filtration device, and configurations wherein at least 80% of a maximum flow rate through the filter can be achieved when an inlet fluid pressure is about 0.2 bar. A buoyant pre-filter with an optional hydrophilic filter element may also be used to establish a system.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2009Publication date: July 8, 2010Applicant: Cascade Designs, Inc.Inventors: D. Redwood Stephens, Earl Sherrard, Josh Buesseler, Lee Getzewich

Patent number: 7674512Abstract: The invention is directed towards a film-based polymeric cellular matrix, methods for making the polymeric cellular matrix, articles of manufacture incorporating the polymeric matrix and methods for making articles of manufacture. The polymeric cellular matrix is characterized as a plurality of generally identical cells (open-ended geometric prisms) arranged to form a repeating geometric form. The matrix is particularly suited for use as a core between two panels.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2005Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Cascade Designs, Inc.Inventors: James Marson, Lee A. Getzewich

Publication number: 20030222238Abstract: A diaphragm (12) for use with a fluid carrying condiuit (70) or outer body (14) where the diaphragm (12) has a convex outer surface (26), a concave inner surface (28), a slit (32) extending from surface (26) to surface (28), and a notch defined by two walls (40, 42) at outer surface (26). The walls (40, 42) preferably diverge towards the outlet end (20) so that upon deflection of diaphragm (12), a greater minimum gap (46) for fluid movement is created when compared to the minimum gap (48) of a diaphragm not having the notch. The notch may have a cross section shape of a “V”, a “U”, or a three section rectilinear form, and may be formed at either surface depending upon the direction of diaphragm deflection.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 20, 2003Publication date: December 4, 2003Inventors: Lee A. Getzewich, James M. Lea

Patent number: 6176394Abstract: A container according to a first embodiment includes a first panel bonded to all but a segment of an opposing second panel wherein the first and the second panels define an interior chamber and wherein the unbonded segments of the first panel and the second panel define a first opening having a maximum area. Present in the first opening is a two-part linear fluid impervious closure constructed of flexible material. The first part is bonded to the first panel segment of the first opening and the second part is bonded to the second panel segment of the first opening. A spout is bonded to at least the first panel to provide fluid communication between the interior chamber and the environment, and to define an orifice having an area less than the maximum area of the first opening. In a preferred embodiment, interlocking fastener strips are used as the closure.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 1998Date of Patent: January 23, 2001Assignee: Cascade Designs, Inc.Inventors: Thomas M. Shimko, Lee A. Getzewich
