  • Publication number: 20240122926
Abstract: Apelin receptor modulators can improve physical performance, slow progression of age-related frailty, and can reduce age-related muscle weakness in human patients. This disclosure provides methods for treating muscle conditions using a particular class of apelin receptor modulators (e.g., agonists). The muscle condition can be an age-related muscle condition. Also provided is a method for maintaining and/or increasing muscle mass, muscle function, and/or muscle strength in an elderly subject by administration of the apelin receptor modulator. In some embodiments, the apelin receptor modulator (e.g., agonist) is BGE-105, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.

  • Patent number: 11602175
Abstract: The present invention provides a conductive substrate useful for Joule heating, such as in an electronic smoking article. Particularly, the invention provides a resistive heating element formed of a conductive substrate. The conductive substrate comprises an electrically conductive material and a carbonaceous additive, such as a binder material. The conductive substrate is carbonized in that it is subjected to calcining conditions to effectively reduce the carbonaceous additive to its carbon skeleton. It has been found that such carbonized substrate has surprisingly improved resistance properties in relation a substrate of the same formulation that is not carbonized. The carbonized substrate can include an aerosol precursor material. The formed resistive heating element can be included in an electronic smoking article to simultaneously provide resistive heating and aerosol formation with a single, unitary component.

  • Publication number: 20140301155
Abstract: Provided is a portable blender that is powered by power tool batteries. The blender has a base housing, a blender jar, and a removable lid. Indicator lights are disposed along the base to provide visual reference of the blender's operating mode. This is accomplished by a coordination of indicator light illumination patterns and colors with the blender's current operating mode. The blender is universally compatible with power tool batteries, which can be plugged into a battery recess in the blender base, or may be connected via a battery extension connector. In this way, the invention provides a portable appliance that is powered by unhand tool batteries rather than requiring specialized power sources.
