Publication number: 20200403993Abstract: An identity server authenticates a first user identity for a user device through a first authentication exchange as part of a passwordless authentication system. The identity server registers with a relying party as an authenticator for a second user identity. The identity server initiates a second authentication exchange by obtaining from the relying party, a credential request associated with the second user identity. Responsive to a determination that the first user identity authenticated in the first authentication exchange is authorized to act as the second user identity, the identity server obtains a credential request response authenticated by the authenticator in the identity server. The identity server completes the second authentication exchange by providing the credential response to the relying party. The second authentication exchange authenticates the user device to the relying party without involving the user device.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 18, 2019Publication date: December 24, 2020Inventors: Eldridge Lee Alexander, James Leslie Barclay, Nicholas James Mooney, Mujtaba Hussain

Publication number: 20150302459Abstract: A system for inserting brand-related data into messages communicated via messaging services and for taking actions in response to selection of such brand-related data at message receiving devices by message receivers. The brand-related data comprises or is representative of brands, logos, images, icons, symbols and/or links to Internet-accessible content, websites, webpages, or other resources, thereby enabling sellers to advertise and provide information about products/services and to conduct promotional campaigns through messaging services. The insertion of brand-related data is configurable to cause insertion at random intervals/counts or pre-determined intervals/counts of messages or message bubbles. The appearance and location of inserted brand-related data is also configurable. Additionally, the display of brand-related data and taking of actions in response to selection of brand-related data by a message receiver may be enabled or disabled based on the passage of a period of time or calendar date.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2014Publication date: October 22, 2015Inventors: Jeffrey B. Patent number: 8767707Abstract: Methods and apparatus enable monitoring a mobile data service, and in particular monitoring an operational status of a relationship between a mobile gateway account on a mobile gateway and a mailbox on a messaging server. The operational status may be based on an initialization state of the mobile gateway account on a mobile gateway and a mailbox status of an associated mailbox on a messaging server. In one embodiment, the mailbox status may be determined based on mailbox errors indicative that a mobile gateway is unable to access the mailbox on the messaging server. In one embodiment a mobile gateway detects mailbox errors based on mailbox protocol error messages and sends an error notification to a monitoring system. Also provided are error notifications for facilitating, in a monitoring system, the correlation of mailbox errors with mobile gateway accounts.Type: GrantFiled: April 23, 2010Date of Patent: July 1, 2014Assignee: BlackBerry LimitedInventors: Douglas James Coates, Maithili Mavinkurve, Lee Alexander Cocking

Publication number: 20140039941Abstract: Systems and methods provide an on-line sports wagers and intermediary marketplace for exchanging physical tickets related to future sporting events. Registration at a website and maintenance of user information allow the start of on-line transactions utilizing the system. A user interface for selecting and displaying a minimum price and a maximum price for a physical ticket and a communication network for communicating among user terminals, servers, data repositories, and other computers over the Internet control the on-line system to provide a proxy for escrow accounts used in funding the transactions after legitimacy of a ticket has been verified and to complete the on-line transactions when a successful purchase of the ticket has been communicated. In one aspect, a system can deposit a net value, if any, of a ticket to a proper escrow account after outcome of the future sporting event represented by the ticket has been determined.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 31, 2012Publication date: February 6, 2014Inventors: Grant Alvernaz, Daniel Lee Alexander
