  • Publication number: 20050235170
Abstract: A computer measures a processor load and configures itself so that a lesser amount of speculative execution is enabled when the processor is lightly loaded than is enabled when the processor is heavily loaded.
    Type: Application
    Filed: April 19, 2004
    Publication date: October 20, 2005

  • Publication number: 20050127758
Abstract: A system comprises power management logic and an electrical load coupled to the power management logic. The electrical load is configurable to operate in accordance with any of a plurality of power states. The power management logic forces the electrical load to operate in a reduced power state if an operating voltage for the system is between two thresholds.

  • Patent number: 6789974
Abstract: A paint striper has a main body having a head portion, an interior cavity, and a slot in fluid communication between the head portion and the interior cavity. The slot is configured for receiving a wheel, and the interior cavity is configured for receiving paint. A wheel is rotatably mounted in the slot with a portion of the wheel extending into the interior cavity. A shoulder extends from the main body, and a guide extends from the shoulder for following a guide track formed in a strip positioned on a surface of the vehicle, wherein the track is substantially parallel to the desired position of the pinstripe. The strip is secured in position on the surface of the vehicle using adhesive which permits removal of the strip from the surface of the vehicle without leaving a residue, and re-use of the strip on a surface of another vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 6, 2002
Date of Patent: September 14, 2004
Inventors: Philip Lee Atkinson, Kenneth C. Dingle, III
  • Patent number: 6766577
Abstract: A connection technique for switchably and mutually exclusively coupling a plurality of device sets. The connection technique utilizes a low profile connector having multiple circuit sets, each of which is configured for mutually exclusive and removable insertion into a receptacle coupled to multiple devices. Each one of the multiple circuit sets, which is inserted into the receptacle, couples a desired set of the plurality of device sets.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 25, 2002
Date of Patent: July 27, 2004
    Assignee: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
Inventors: Steven S. Homer, Lee Atkinson, Rahul V. Lakdawala
  • Patent number: 6691236
Abstract: A system and process for power conservation in a portable computer system. When the application or hardware in use allows for reduced video performance, the refresh rate of the video graphics controller is reduced to a level which allows practical use of the display but consumes much less power than a normal mode.
    Type: Grant

  • Publication number: 20020120879
Abstract: A system and method to reduce power. consumption in a portable computer system while allowing the CDROM drive to continue playing audio CDs. When the system enters a suspend mode, the status of the CDROM drive is checked, and if it is playing an audio CD, it remains powered, otherwise power to the CDROM drive, is also suspended. The system recognizes when the audio CD is finished playing and then places the CDROM drive into the suspend mode.
