  • Publication number: 20110071753
Abstract: A method, a system, and a recording medium for navigating a vehicle are provided. In the present application, a current driving lane of the vehicle is first detected through a lane detection technique. Then, whether the current driving lane conforms to a navigation lane in navigation information is determined. If the current driving lane does not conform to the navigation lane, a notification of direction of the navigation lane relative to the current driving lane is generated. Accordingly, a driver can be instantly notified to switch to the appropriate lane.

  • Publication number: 20100274471
Abstract: A route reporting method, system, and a recording medium using the same are provided. The present method detects a touch and draws a path according to a moving trajectory of the touch. When the touch is finished, a dialog block is displayed to insert route mark information in the drawn path. The aforesaid steps are repeated to draw a plurality of paths. When an end signal is received, those paths are assembled to form a complete route map, which is provided for users to search for routes.

  • Publication number: 20100036671
Abstract: A method and system for real time tracking and approving Federal Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave requests is provided. Custom database objects are retrieved and processed, through a secure intranet JavaScript®1 interface, in real time to provide an employer with employee data associated with the FMLA. The system enables accurate approval or denial of FMLA leave requests for FMLA compliance. The variables for leave expenditures and accruals can be customized to meet the needs of a specific organization. Computational resources are conserved with the use of trigger processing and updating only the desired record. Instantaneous feedback to include an employee's hours worked within a rolling 12 month period, including current usage of vacation, worker's compensation, short-term disability, and sick leave. The system may also provide supervision with real time notification of, for example, new FMLA requests, FMLA status changes, and FMLA leave limits.

  • Publication number: 20090271703
Abstract: An electronic device and a user interface display method thereof are provided. The method organizes a plurality of computer programs and a web browser executable on the electronic device into a virtual book including a plurality of ordinary pages and a list page. Each ordinary page of the virtual book includes a user interface of one of the computer programs or a web page displayed by the web browser. When one of the ordinary pages is displayed as the current page, the user interface or the web page of the current page is accessible to the user of the electronic device. The list page includes a plurality of entries and each of the entries represents one of the ordinary pages.

  • Publication number: 20090189069
Abstract: A novel system and method for charge-monitoring mass spectrometry is provided. The mass spectrometer can be used to measure the mass of one or more analytes having masses in the range of about a few Daltons to more than about 1015 Daltons. The invention can be used for rapid mass distribution measurements. For example, the system and method can be used to distinguish cancer cells from normal cells when their mass distributions are different.

  • Publication number: 20090167693
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for executing commands in an electronic device, which has a touch sensing element, a keyboard unit and a display. First, the touch sensing element is configured for detecting a touch on one of the keys on the keyboard unit and generating a responsive signal corresponding to the touched key. Afterward, a plurality of items corresponding to the touched key is shown on the display according to the responsive signal. Subsequently, the touch on the key is moved onto another key on the keyboard unit so as to mark one of the items. Finally, a command associated with the marked item is executed when the touch on the key is terminated.

  • Publication number: 20090063541
Abstract: In one implementation, a method for sustaining database processing parallelism of one or more parallelized processes to build one or more index pages using pseudo record identifiers (PRIDs) is disclosed. The method comprises generating one or more PRIDs for one or more respective internal record formats (IRFs), inserting said generated PRIDs into a respective index key, generating a relational index of the PRID and a predetermined record identifier (RID) respectively determined in relation to said IRF, and building one or more index pages in relation to the relational index by comparing said RID and said PRID for their respective IRF in said relational index, and determining which one of said RID or said PRID to insert into said index page.

  • Publication number: 20070067353
Abstract: A method of smart path finding for a file operation is disclosed. A data structure is provided to store reference points, file paths and use counts. Each of the reference points is a URL or an email ID and is associated with at least one of the file paths. Each of the use counts is tied to one of the file paths. The data structure is searched when a reference point is hit for downloading, uploading, attaching or detaching a file. When the reference point is found to be or to be similar to one of the reference points, one or more file paths associated with the one of the reference points are ordered, by one or more use counts tied to the one or more file paths, to form a list including one or more suggested file paths for downloading, uploading, attaching or detaching the file.

  • Publication number: 20010012433
Abstract: A system for examining optical fibers uses a fixture including upper and lower jaws. The lower jaw has an upper surface with a convex arch and a groove passing over the convex arch, where the groove is adapted to receive and hold laterally in place an optical fiber. The upper jaw has a lower surface corresponding to the upper surface of the first lower jaw so that when the first upper jaw is fitted to the first lower jaw, an optical fiber within the groove of the first lower jaw is held in place against the convex arch. First and second orifices extend through the upper jaw and are positioned to intersect a corresponding tangent to an optical fiber held within the groove. A detector inserted within the first and second orifices detects the status of the optical fiber, including the direction of light travel within the fiber.

  • Patent number: 5787183
Abstract: A microphone system for use in an environment where an acoustic source emits energy from diverse and varying locations within the environment. The microphone system has at least two directional microphones, mixing circuitry, and control circuitry. The microphones are held each directed out from a center point. The mixing circuitry combines the electrical signals from the microphones in varying proportions to form a composite signal, the composite signal including contributions from at least two of the microphones. The control circuitry analyzes the electrical signals to determine an angular orientation of the acoustic signal relative to the central point, and substantially continuously adjusts the proportions in response to the determined orientation and provides the adjusted proportions to the mixing circuitry.
