  • Patent number: 11955248
Abstract: A method and apparatus of limiting power of a boiling water nuclear reactor system includes a reactor pressure vessel, a reactor core disposed in the reactor pressure vessel, a core shroud surrounding the reactor core, a downcomer region disposed between an inner surface of the reactor pressure vessel and the core shroud, a steam line connected to an upper end of the reactor pressure vessel and a condenser system that receives steam from the reactor pressure vessel. A portion of the condenser system condensate is returned to the reactor pressure vessel of the boiling water reactor inside the core barrel above the core rather than into the downcomer. Returning the condensate in this way increases the effectiveness of an isolation condenser system or if the condensate is a portion of the feedwater from the main condenser it provides an effective means to regulate core flow and core power.

  • Publication number: 20240109247
Abstract: A layer of additive material is formed in a circular printing area on a substrate using additive sources distributed across a printing zone. The additive sources form predetermined discrete amounts of the additive material. The substrate and the additive sources are rotated with respect to each other around a center of rotation, so that a pattern of the additive material is formed in a circular printing area on the substrate. Each additive source receives actuation waveforms at an actuation frequency that is proportional to a distance of the additive source from the center of rotation. The actuation waveforms include formation signals, with a maximum of one formation signal in each cycle of the actuation frequency. The formation signals result in the additive sources forming the predetermined discrete amounts of the additive material on the substrate.

  • Publication number: 20240072231
Abstract: Custom-form batteries can supply complex, practical systems with an optimal energy density that wouldn't otherwise be possible using traditional battery form-factors. For example, iron disulfide (FeS2) is a prominent conversion cathode of commercial interest. 3D direct-ink write (DIW) printing of FeS2 inks can be used to produce ridged cathodes from the filamentary extrusion of highly concentrated FeS2 inks (60-70% solids). These ridged cathodes exhibit optimal power, uniformity, and stability when cycled at higher rates (in excess of C/10). Meanwhile, functional cells with custom-form wave-shaped electrodes (e.g., printed FeS2 cathodes and pressed lithium anodes) exhibit improved performance over similar cells in planar configurations. In general, the DIW of concentrated inks is a viable path toward the making of custom-form conversion lithium batteries. More broadly, ridging is found to optimize rate capability.

  • Patent number: 11848654
Abstract: A technology is described for a repeater. A repeater can comprise a first port; a second port; a first-direction amplification and filtering path coupled between the first port and the second port; a multiplexer coupled between: the first-direction amplification and filtering path; and the second port; and a power amplifier (PA) coupled between the first port and the multiplexer. The repeater can further comprise an adjustable matching network coupled between the PA and the multiplexer, wherein the adjustable matching network is actively adjusted to match an impedance of an output of the PA at a selected channel over a frequency range for a first-direction signal with an impedance of an input of the multiplexer over the selected channel over the frequency range for a first-direction signal.

  • Patent number: 11777591
Abstract: Technology for a repeater is disclosed. The repeater can include a first port and a second port. The repeater can include a transmitter communicatively coupled to the first port and a receiver communicatively coupled to the second port. The transmitter can transmit a path loss signal. The receiver can receive the path loss signal transmitted by the transmitter. The repeater can include a controller. The controller can identify a first power level of the signal transmitted from the transmitter. The controller can identify a second power level of the signal received at the receiver. The controller can determine an antenna feedback path loss of the repeater based on the first power level and the second power level. The controller can set a maximum gain level for the repeater based on the antenna feedback path loss to avoid an oscillation in the repeater.
