  • Publication number: 20130327113
Abstract: A system and method for manufacturing a medical device. The system can include a thermal chamber and an expander at least partially positioned within the thermal chamber. The expander can be configured to uniformly expand a medical device as the medical device is advanced over the heated expander and heat set the expanded medical device while the medical device is positioned on the heated expander. The method can include forming a medical device from a tube having a first diameter; uniformly expanding the medical device from the first diameter to a second diameter at which the medical device can be left within a body vessel, the medical device being expanded from the first diameter to the second diameter while being continuously positioned on an expander; and heat setting the expanded medical device at the second diameter while the medical device is positioned on the expander.

  • Publication number: 20130327450
Abstract: Systems and methods for uniformly expanding and heat setting medical devices. One method can include expanding a medical device by advancing the medical device over a preheated expander, the medical device being uniformly expanded as the medical device is advanced over the preheated expander; and heat setting the expanded medical device while the medical device is positioned over the expander, the preheated expander being maintained at a predetermined heat-setting temperature. The preheated expander can be positioned within a thermal chamber that maintains the preheated expander at the predetermined heat-setting temperature. The medical device can be physically separated from the preheated expander when the medical device is positioned over the expander and can be comprised of a shape-memory material. The preheated expander can remain heated during the expansion and heat setting of a plurality of medical devices.

  • Publication number: 20110214329
Abstract: A weapon accessory mounting adapter that increases the accessory mounting capacity of a weapon by utilizing a bipod stud or picatinny rail to attach accessories. This in turn, makes the weapon and its operator more responsive to changing shooting scenarios. The weapon accessory mounting adapter utilizes the bayonet mounting lug and flash suppressor of the weapon for temporary attachment of the accessories. This configuration allows the retention of weapon ergonomics when the weapon accessory mounting adapter is attached and maintains a low weapon weight when detached. Good ergonomics and low weight are important considerations in regard to effective weapon handling.

  • Patent number: 7833463
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method of removing an organic film from a selected portion of an implantable medical device includes: selecting a portion of an implantable medical device from which to remove an organic film comprising a silane primer and a polymer of para-xylylene; using a laser set at a first value for an operational parameter, tracing the perimeter of the selected portion to ablate the organic film along the perimeter; using an infrared laser set at a second value for the operational parameter, scanning the selected portion of the device to heat the surface of the device within the perimeter of the selected portion and thereby separate the organic film from the surface of the device within the perimeter of the selected portion; and mechanically removing the chemically separated organic film from the surface of the device within the perimeter to expose the selected portion.

  • Patent number: 4034605
Abstract: Power required curves for ratios of helicopter weight to air density ratio form a background over which move perpendicular bars representing air speed and engine torque. The intersection of the relatively movable bars indicates which power required curve the helicopter is operating on. An area to the right and above that curve represents power margin available for maneuvering. A knob positions a mask over a portion of the background to indicate the actual maximum power limitation of the helicopter. A maximum power setting is varied according to ambient pressure and temperature. A minimum speed warning is produced by comparing air speed and engine torque. A rapid descent automatically raises the minimum speed warning.
