  • Patent number: 5256200
Abstract: As a liquid is sprayed onto a sheet, some of the liquid is oversprayed beyond an edge of the sheet. Two movable collectors for collecting such overspray, each having two pans arranged below the edges of the sheet, and vapor-retaining structures extending over the pans to define a plurality of narrow apertures which permit the overspray to pass into the pans, while resisting the passage of vapors upwardly through the apertures and back into the spray chamber. The vapor-retaining structure comprises a plurality of inverted V-shaped strips which are arranged parallel to one another such that the bottom edges of adjacent strips define the narrow apertures, the width of the apertures being in the range of about 1/32 to 1/4 inch. This apparatus can be used as a hazardous waste minimization effort for spray coating operations.
