Publication number: 20170067155Abstract: A vapor deposition device and a method for depositing a coating on a substrate are disclosed. The device includes a heating chamber for containing plasma and an evaporant chamber for containing an evaporant source. Evaporant is generated by heating of the evaporant source by the plasma. The heating chamber is both separated from the evaporant chamber and in thermally conductive connectivity with the evaporant chamber. The method includes supplying plasma to a heating chamber; heating an evaporant source by transfer of heat from the plasma to in an amount sufficient to generate evaporant from the evaporant source; and condensing the evaporant or a reaction product thereof on a surface of the substrate to form a coating thereon. The plasma is maintained in isolation from the evaporant source and the evaporant.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 8, 2015Publication date: March 9, 2017Applicant: CPFILMS INC.Inventors: Jaime Antonio Li, Coby Lee Hubbard, David Lee Richardson

System for determining individual user anthropometric characteristics related to mattress preference
Patent number: 9033901Abstract: A measuring device to aid mattress selection has an upstanding frame with a plurality of vertically space-apart horizontal illuminated strips. A camera mounted in front of the frame takes front view and side view images of a person standing in front of the illuminated strips. These images are delivered to an associated computer having means to determine the body mass distribution and the spine curvature of the person based on the images of the strips taken by the camera and in particular based on those portions of the image of the illuminated strips blocked by the person standing in front of the illuminated strips. This information can then be used to aid in appropriate mattress selection for the person.Type: GrantFiled: September 20, 2010Date of Patent: May 19, 2015Inventors: David Woolfson, Duncan Bain, Lee Hubbard -

Patent number: 8314991Abstract: Now, according to the present invention, interference filters are provided that incorporate two band pass interference filters into a single composite interference filter. The two filters each have at least one band pass curve that is centered at the same wavelength for light that is incident at a given angle to the filter surface. The band pass curve shifts of the filter components, however, are dissimilar, which results in a decrease of transmitted light as the angle of incidence diverges from the given angle.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 2008Date of Patent: November 20, 2012Assignee: CPFilms Inc.Inventors: Jaime Antonio Li, Coby Lee Hubbard

Patent number: 5984998Abstract: An apparatus and method for non-intrusive collection of off-gas data in a steelmaking furnace includes structure and steps for transmitting a laser beam through the off-gas produced by a steelmaking furnace, for controlling the transmitting to repeatedly scan the laser beam through a plurality of wavelengths in its tuning range, and for detecting the laser beam transmitted through the off-gas and converting the detected laser beam to an electrical signal. The electrical signal is processed to determine characteristics of the off-gas that are used to analyze and/or control the steelmaking process.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1997Date of Patent: November 16, 1999Assignee: American Iron and Steel InstituteInventors: David Keith Ottesen, Sarah Williams Allendorf, Gary Lee Hubbard, David Ezechiel Rosenberg

Patent number: 5839710Abstract: A variable size container holder for an automotive vehicle has a tray movable between a retracted position retracted into a cavity in a vehicle trim piece and an extended position extending from the trim piece. Along an edge of the tray is at least one container receiving portion and at least one channel. Bounding the container receiving portion and mounted in the channel is a flexible band having a first end fixed relative to the tray and a second end movable within the channel. The flexible band is thus adjustable, when the tray is in the extended position, between a taut position substantially flush with the edge of the tray and a container holder position in which a middle section of the retaining member is drawn laterally away from the container receiver portion to allow a container to rest in the container receiving portion. The flexible retaining member grips a vertically extending surface of a container so as to secure it into the container receiving portion.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 1997Date of Patent: November 24, 1998Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Gary Lee Hubbard
