  • Patent number: 4704036
Abstract: A pulse measurement circuit for measuring timing parameters includes main and delayed trigger generators and a timer for measuring the time between generation of the two trigger signals. The circuit further includes an adjustable delay circuit that senses the main trigger signal and in response enables the delayed trigger generator for triggering after a selectable delay. To measure a timing parameter of a pulse, both trigger generators are first caused to trigger on the first parameter boundary and the time between generation of the two trigger signals is measured. The delayed trigger generator is then caused to trigger on the second parameter boundary while the main trigger generator again triggers on the first parameter boundary. The time difference between generation of the two trigger signals is again measured. The first time is subtracted from the second time to measure the time of the pulse parameter.

  • Patent number: 4613950
Abstract: A self-calibrating time interval meter including means for measuring time intervals using a dual-speed ramp technique. The time interval meter operates in a measurement mode to measure time intervals and operates in a calibration mode for calibration adjustments. In measurement mode, the time interval meter utilizes a dual-speed ramp technique to expand the time interval to be measured. A capacitor is rapidly charged by a first constant current source during the time interval to be measured, and is then slowly discharged by a second constant current source. The time required to discharge the capacitor is measured and utilized to compute a measurement of the time interval. In calibration mode, a flip-flop is alternately switched into and out of the circuit to provide two time interval measurements that differ by exactly one clock period of a known clock signal. A microprocessor subtracts the two measurements and compares the difference to the known clock period to determine a calibration error.

  • Patent number: 4540982
Abstract: A delay compensation method and apparatus for digital display systems includes a differential clock generator which controls the timing of progenitor digital signals in separate signal-processing channels so that reconstructed horizontal and vertical analog signals arrive at a display device in a precise time match. Thus, timing errors may be adjusted out while the signals are still in digital form to provide an undistorted display.

  • Patent number: 4482861
Abstract: A waveform measurement and display apparatus comprises a pair of signal-processing channels in addition to a sweep generator arranged so as to provide both Y-T and X-Y display modes. A time marker generator system is provided to insert time markers into the same relative time positions of the respective Y-T and X-Y displays so as to precisely ascertain the time relationship between the two displays. Additionally, such time markers may be inserted into corresponding time positions for expanded and unexpanded waveforms in the Y-T display mode so as to precisely ascertain the relative time position therebetween.
