    Abstract: A method of optimizing an automated water based composition application system is disclosed. The method includes utilizing a fluorescent indicator to monitor the drying of the water based composition. The fluorescent indicator imparts to the composition a fluorescence change as the composition progresses from a wet condition to a dry condition. The invention also relates to an improved automated book binding method in which a fluorescent indicator is used to monitor the drying of a water based composition.
