  • Patent number: 4833526
Abstract: Apparatus for decoding a luminance signal from a PAL composite signal comprising a summing one line delay for deriving the sum of corresponding pixels on adjacent lines of a field, a subtracting one line delay for driving the difference between pixels respectively adjacent to said pixels occur in another frame, an inverter for inverting the polarity of the output of said subtracting one line delay at twice the frequency of the color subcarrier, an adder coupled to said summing one line delay and to said subtractor, a two line delay coupled to the latter adder and another adder coupled to the opposite ends of said two line delay.

  • Patent number: 4814863
Abstract: Keying signals indicating locations along the lines of a raster where artifacts resulting from combing a video signal occur is derived by a one line subtractive filter, a clipping circuit and a one line AND device and means are provided for replacing video signals in said location with artifact free signals at the same location in either adjacent line if such are available and providing a signal that can be used to set up notch filter rather than combed operation if the corresponding locations on both adjacent lines also contain artifacts.

  • Patent number: 4797731
Abstract: Circuits are provided for increasing the frequency of the standard PAL line sync signals so that they have the same phase relationship with the color subcarrier every fourth line. The generation of a standard PAL sync signal is achieved by generating a signal as just described and decreasing its horizontal frequency.

  • Patent number: 4758882
Abstract: A circuit to detect the presence of the chrominance signal in a composite signal is disclosed. Advantage is taken of the fact that the polarity of luminance signals in two fields or frames is the same whereas the polarity of chrominance signals is opposite. The circuit uses a band pass filter to select the chrominance and high frequency luminance signals, a polarity detector, a field or frame delay, and an XOR having the delayed and nondelayed outputs of the polarity detector as inputs. The output can be used to modify the decoding circuits when a purely black and white image is present.
