  • Patent number: 9720197
Abstract: A transition box for a fiber optic network for a multiple distribution unit (MDU) is disclosed. The transition box comprises an enclosure a fiber optic adapter removably mounted in the enclosure. The fiber optic adapter is configured to receive one or more optical fibers of a riser cable to provide optical communication service from a service provider to a subscriber premises. A payout reel removably mounted in the enclosure stores slack of the riser cable paid out to at least one of one or more distribution levels in the MDU.

    Assignee: Corning Optical Communications LLC
Inventors: Terry Dean Cox, Mark Robert Dagley, Lee Wayne Nored, Susan Elizabeth Semmler, Antwan Joco'ques Works
  • Patent number: 9547145
Abstract: A local convergence point for a fiber optic network is disclosed. The local convergence panel has an enclosure with an interior. An adapter panel separates the interior into a first section and a second section. An interior panel removably mounts in the interior in at least one of the first section and the second section. At least one optical component removably mounts to the interior panel. The optical component may be a splitter module, a splice holder, a routing guide, furcation devices, a ribbon fan-out body, a wave division multiplexer and/or a coarse wave division multiplexer.

  • Patent number: 9366838
Abstract: A secure cable housing system for use within a secure fiber optic communications network is provided. The secure cable housing system includes a non-secure cable box and a secure equipment box. The secure network equipment box includes a secure interior cavity, and the non-secure cable box is smaller than the secure interior cavity such that the non-secure cable box fits within the secure interior cavity. The secure network equipment box allows the optical cable to be received into the secure interior cavity without disconnecting the fiber optic cable from the non-secure box.

  • Patent number: 8879882
Abstract: A variably configurable fiber optic terminal as a local convergence point in a fiber optic network is disclosed. The fiber optic terminal has an enclosure having a base and a cover which define an interior space. A feeder cable having at least one optical fiber and a distribution cable having at least one optical fiber are received into the interior space through a feeder cable port and a distribution cable port, respectively. A movable chassis positions in the interior space and is movable between a first position, a second position and third position. The movable chassis has a splitter holder area, a cassette area and a parking area. A cassette movably positions in the cassette area. A splitter module holder having a splitter module movably positioned therein movably positions in the splitter holder area. The optical fiber of the feeder cable and the optical fiber of the distribution cable are optically connected through the cassette, which also may be through the splitter module.
