  • Patent number: 7427547
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a three-dimensional high voltage transistor is disclosed. According to the method, lengths and widths of channels are increased while the reducing transistor forming area on plane, and semiconductor devices are completely separated from each other while restraining parasitic capacitance, latch-up phenomena, and formation of field transistors. The three-dimensional high voltage transistor includes an active area of the three-dimensional high voltage transistor formed in the form of a column on predetermined areas of a Silicon-On-Insulator substrate, source and drain formed in the active areas of the three-dimensional high voltage transistor in the depth direction, a channel area formed between the source and the drain in the depth direction, and a column-shaped gate formed at the side of the channel area on the Silicon-On-Insulator substrate.

  • Publication number: 20070181841
Abstract: This invention relates to an orifice valve having a moveable gate to control the flow of solids in a closed conveying system. The invention encompasses a valve housing with two complementary valve sections, each of a unitary construction. A single plate is laser cut and bent to present a first planar surface, two opposed sidewalls and an end wall. The sidewalls include an integral flange section which presents planar surfaces that are placed in facing relationship with the planar flange surfaces of a second housing member so that the two form a closed cavity. A blade is received in the cavity and is reciprocal between open and closed positions so as to accommodate the flow of material or to block the flow. Appropriate retainers hold the two sections in place. In the preferred embodiment a second end wall is also integral with the housing section and is formed from the same plate stock as the first planar section, the sidewalls and the first end wall.

  • Patent number: 7070051
Abstract: A needle counter device which utilizes an adhesive disposed in one or more, preferably V-shaped, troughs. The adhesive provides instant, strong grip upon contact, but also provides very low resistance to needle penetration (i.e., it is easy to stick a needle in the adhesive, but difficult to pull the needle out). The device includes a base and a lid, and opens and closes much like a book. Once the device is closed, the device tends to remain closed unless intentionally opened. A thin layer of adhesive may be provided on the inside of the lid, to retain used surgical blades, and a piece of resilient foam may also be provided for temporarily “parking” a suture needle. The sides of each trough are lined with structure which serves to prevent an accidentally laid surgical instrument from unintentionally contacting the adhesive. Numerical indices provide a quick visual, counting assist.

  • Patent number: 6739628
Abstract: A frangible hose connector that has a knit line at the intended point of fracture, as opposed to a circumferential groove or notch. The knit line provides a break zone which has a lower tensile strength than that of the parent material, thereby providing that the connector is relatively easy to fracture. The connector also includes finger grips which makes breaking the connector easier. The finger grips provide that the connector is configured to be fractured via a twisting or torsion force, as opposed to a bending force. As such, the connector tends to break in a manner wherein fluid does not fling or spray. The connector is formed of plastic, and the knit line is created during the plastic injection molded process, wherein two mold fronts are “squared-up” and meet in the mold cavity to form the knit line.

  • Patent number: 6709304
Abstract: A spot marking buoy. A flotation body, cylindrical in shape with rounded ends having a groove around the periphery of the flotation body creating a reel with one end of a string attached to the reel and the other end of the string attached to an anchor weight. The flotation body employs angular cores to receive a rubber locking cord which is affixed to the flotation body by the use of crimps or knots on the ends of the rubber locking cord with said crimps or knots being larger in circumference than the angular cores. And surface grooves on each side of the top end of the flotation body to receive and secure the rubber locking cord when in use and when storage. Included are recessed counterweights, an anchor weight and anchor weight housing for storage and a built in hand grip for reminding.

  • Patent number: 6622199
Abstract: A method for allocating blocks within sectored EEPROM (commonly referred to as flash memory) based memory to minimize data relocation overhead and maximize sectored EEPROM lifetime. Data to be saved within sectored EEPROM is configured into data pages or blocks representing the minimum data size that is relocated within the sectored EEPROM in any given erase cycle. Multiple data blocks are contained within a single sector. A sector represents the minimum data size that is erased from the sectored EEPROM in any single erase cycle. Each block has a corresponding calculated value of volatility and new or updated data blocks to be added to the file are saved in sectored EEPROM according to a hierarchy based upon the calculated volatility of the data block. Data blocks with a calculated volatility within a predetermined threshold of the average volatility of a sector are saved within the most occupied sector containing no obsolete blocks.

  • Patent number: 6461900
Abstract: A method to form a closely-spaced, vertical NMOS and PMOS transistor pair in an integrated circuit device is achieved. A substrate comprises silicon implanted oxide (SIMOX) wherein an oxide layer is sandwiched between underlying and overlying silicon layers. Ions are selectively implanted into a first part of the overlying silicon layer to form a drain, channel region, and source for an NMOS transistor. The drain is formed directly overlying the oxide layer, the channel region is formed overlying the drain, and the source is formed overlying the channel region. Ions are selectively implanted into a second part of the overlying silicon layer to form a drain, channel region, and source for a PMOS transistor. The drain is formed directly overlying the oxide layer, the PMOS channel region is formed overlying the drain, and the source is formed overlying the channel region. The PMOS transistor drain is in contact with said NMOS transistor drain.

  • Publication number: 20020100776
Abstract: A fish stringer is provided with a circular frame, made of cast aluminum, approximately six inches in diameter, that forms the main component of the invention. A round, center handle provides a comfortable, easy way to carry the invention along with the catch of fish. A series of eight chain and hook assemblies with swivel joints, are evenly spaced around the perimeter of the frame and are made of brass and stainless steel. The spacing provides a means to separate the fish while they are stored in the water or being carried. A vinyl coated chain, approximately six feet in length, is attached to the main frame, and is provided with a clasp and swivel joint, to allow the invention to be attached to the side of a boat or dock. The long chain assures the fish will be kept in the water even during rough or choppy conditions, and is red in color for easy locating.

  • Patent number: 6390194
Abstract: A method and apparatus for testing blowout preventer systems that enables testing of various size pipe rams, as well as safe and efficient shut-in of a well, without having to trip the entire apparatus out of a well. The testing apparatus generally includes an upper elongated testing cylinder, an upper test seal assembly, a lower elongated testing cylinder, a lower test seal assembly and a test plug. Additionally, the testing apparatus may include a circulating flow assembly, a side-port assembly, and a check-valve assembly, all of which are axially connected in a series to allow the testing tool to be easily lowered into a riser to a subsea blowout preventer assembly. The subject invention permits testing of blowout preventers that are designed to seal around various size pipe diameters during a single pipe trip. The invention also allows the operator to efficiently and safely shut-in a well if a kick is experienced during testing operations.
