  • Publication number: 20100193994
Abstract: An imprint lithography method is provided. The method includes undertaking first and second imprints, which comprises for each imprint: for an area of a substrate provided with a plurality of drops of imprintable medium in respectively first and second configurations, imprinting a pattern in the imprintable medium using a same imprint template, pockets being formed between the drops of the imprintable medium, the imprint template and the substrate during the imprinting of the pattern, wherein the first configuration of drops of imprintable medium is different from the second configuration of drops of imprintable medium, such that pockets formed during the second imprint are formed at different locations relative to the imprint template to pockets formed during the first imprint.

  • Publication number: 20100053959
Abstract: An optical arrangement comprising a light guide (101) having a light-entry portion (103) with a light-entry surface (105), a tapering portion (107) with a light reflecting surface, and a light-exit surface (109). The light-entry portion (103) is arranged to guide light from the light-entry surface (105) in a first direction (x) towards the light reflecting surface (H I), the light reflecting surface being arranged in relation to the first direction (x) so that incident light from the light-entry portion (103) is reflected towards the light-exit surface (109). A light transmitting layer (113) is adapted to transmit light diffusively and arranged to cover at least a portion of the light-entry edge surface (105) of the light guide (101). The arrangement is e.g. suitable for use in a LED based luminaire and allows for efficiency and forming of a light beam able to fulfill glare requirements. The arrangement may advantageously be used in a downlighting application.

  • Publication number: 20080273441
Abstract: An optical data storage medium is described comprising at least: —a synthetic resinous substrate, having a first side and a second opposite side, —a first layer stack comprising: a data storage layer stack formed on the first side of the substrate, a transparent cover stack formed on the data storage layer stack, the data storage layer stack being readable through the cover stack by means of a focused radiation beam. A second layer stack having a permeablity for moisture <0.5 g/m2/day, is applied to the second (non entry) side of the substrate. In this way the medium exhibits little or no, warpage under the influence of moisture. Further a roll-to-roll producible combi-foil is described.

  • Publication number: 20080191619
Abstract: The present invention relates to an elongated display fiber (1) comprising a plurality of electro luminescent pixel elements (2) distributed along the length of said fiber (1). The fiber (1) further comprises an electrical conductor matrix (3) consisting of intersecting row (R1-Rn) and column (C1-Cn) conductors disposed along the length of said fiber (1). An electrical connection (4) exist between each said intersection of said row (R1,Rn) and column (C1-Cn) conductors and a respective one of said electro luminescent pixel elements (2). Each respective said electro luminescent pixel element (2) can be caused to emit light through selective application of electrical signals to a respective combination of one of said row (R1-Rn) conductors and one of said column (C1-Cn) conductors. The present invention further relates to a display apparatus (6) comprising at least one elongated display fiber (1) according to the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20080165085
Abstract: The present invention relates to an elongated display fiber (1) comprising an optical fiber body (2) having a plurality of pixel positions distributed along the length of said fiber (1). At least one light source (3) is arranged to selectively illuminate said fiber (1) from at least one end thereof. Addressing means are operably associated with said fiber for sequential addressing of one of each of said pixel positions. The display fiber (1) further comprises means for selectively causing said fiber (1) to emit light at said addressed one of said pixel positions. The present invention further relates to a display apparatus (11) comprising at least one elongated display fiber (1) according to the present invention.

  • Publication number: 20070116932
Abstract: A device such as a flexible AMLCD is described comprising first (10) and second layers (11), wherein the first layer is a flexible substrate and the second layer is a brittle ITO conduction line applied to the substrate. The ITO layer has a corrugated structure and is in contact with the substrate along a substantial portion of the length of the ITO layer so as to prevent fracture of the ITO layer when the flexible substrate is deformed. The ITO layer may be divided into portions (16, 17), the length of the portions being selected to prevent fracture when the flexible substrate is deformed to a predetermined radius of curvature.

  • Patent number: 6596367
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical disc consisting of a synthetic resin substrate provided with readable information in a layer. The moisture-proof layer is arranged between the synthetic resin substrate and a second synthetic resin layer. A suitable choice of the position of the layer, that is the ratio &thgr; between the thickness of the second synthetic resin layer and the total thickness of the optical disc, enables the absolute maximum concentration moment (CM) or warpage of the optical disc to fall within a fixed range when the humidity of the environment changes. This range preferably lies between a small positive value and a small negative value.

  • Patent number: 6033279
Abstract: A method in which a (display) device having a part (41) comprising a first wall (43) and a second wall (44) is manufactured, which part (41) is warmed up during the temperature treatment by unilateral irradiation with heat by means of heat radiators (35). The method is characterized in that the temperature treatment further comprises measures which cause a fluid (53) to be fed past the outer surface of the first wall (43) to remove heat from said outer surface and/or measures which cause a fluid to be fed past the inner surface of the second wall (44) to supply heat to said second surface. In an embodiment, the inner surface of the second wall (44) is provided with a heat-absorbing coating (48). Preferably, the heat radiators (35) emit electromagnetic radiation having a wavelength below 3 .mu.m.
