    Abstract: Techniques for simulating carbon dioxide injection into a saline aquifer. The techniques include obtaining geological reference data that is correlated to a saline aquifer formation layer and establishing a set of carbon dioxide injection parameters to be tested. The simulation is computationally practical and efficient by mathematically partitioning the aquifer formation layer into a plurality of discrete partitions based on the geological reference data and utilizing fast analytical solutions to obtain relevant properties of interest within each partition. Thus, estimating carbon dioxide flow characteristics for each discrete partition of the plurality may take place based on the geological reference data and the carbon dioxide injection parameters.

    Abstract: Techniques for simulating carbon dioxide injection into a saline aquifer.     Abstract: A method may include identifying known parameters based on a geological model representative of a subsurface region and identifying uncertain parameters associated with the geological model based on the known parameters and field operations previously performed within the subsurface region. The operations may also include generating a simulated test design to estimate the uncertain parameters based on the known parameters by determining a sensitivity coefficient matrix at different time points for each of one or more simulated measurements associated with estimated uncertain parameters based on the simulated test design and determining a residual uncertainty associated with the estimated uncertain parameters based on the sensitivity coefficient matrix. The method may also include generating an updated simulated test design to estimate the second set of parameters based on the known parameters in response to the residual uncertainty being greater than a threshold.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided herein to form semiconductor dies with a thermally conductive bond interface to enhance the thermal dissipation from the semiconductor devices. A frontside interconnect region is provided above a semiconductor device layer to, for example, route signals between various semiconductor devices in the device layer. A thermally conductive bond layer may be provided above the frontside interconnect region, such as on a top-most layer of the frontside interconnect region. The thermally conductive bond layer includes a metal such as titanium, ruthenium, copper, or generally any material having a thermal conductivity of at least 1.5 W/m·K. The bond layer may be formed on a material layer that is deposited first on the frontside interconnect region. The material layer may be any of diamond, silicon carbide, copper, or aluminum nitride, to name a few examples.

    Abstract: A method for synthesizing high-value products from refinery furnace gas is provided. Crude furnace gas from a refinery is purified, and then clean furnace gas is delivered to a three-stage normal pressure reactor in a chemical looping, where nearly pure carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and hydrogen products are obtained in each stage of the process. Nearly pure hydrogen reformed from coke oven gas is used for hydrogen replenishment to adjust a gas structure. Mixed raw materials that meet standards are pressurized and delivered to a synthesizer, and methanol or ammonia products are obtained after gas-liquid separation.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided herein to form semiconductor devices with thermal management structures designed to provide additional heat dissipation paths. A semiconductor device includes a gate structure around or otherwise on a semiconductor region that extends from a source region to a drain region. In one example, a subfin region beneath the semiconductor region is removed and replaced with a material having a thermal conductivity of at least 1.5 W/m·K. In another example, a material layer is formed between conductive contacts on the top surfaces of the source and drain regions that has a thermal conductivity of at least 1.5 W/m·K. In another example, the conductive contacts extend through at least 50% of an entire height of the source and drain regions to provide an enhanced thermal path. Any of the above-mentioned structures may also be combined in one or more devices to provide multiple different thermal management structures.
