  • Patent number: 8325965
Abstract: An audio speaker contains a tweeter capable of continuous rotation, where the audio speaker contains the tweeter and an axis mount assembly. The tweeter is removably connected to the axis mount assembly. The audio speaker also contains a first connection member capable of maintaining electrical communication with the axis mount assembly throughout continuous rotation of the axis mount assembly. The axis mount assembly contains a terminal plate connected to a bottom portion of the tweeter, where the terminal plate maintains electrical communication with the tweeter. The axis mount assembly also contains an axis mount faceplate capable of receiving the terminal plate and tweeter within an indented portion of a top portion of the axis mount faceplate. The axis mount assembly further contains an axis mount spacer and a second connection member that maintains electrical communication with the first connection member throughout continuous rotation of the axis mount assembly.

  • Patent number: 7986804
Abstract: An audio speaker having a removable voice coil, which may be a part of a voice coil assembly. The voice coil may be user-removable to facilitate replacement of a damaged voice coil or reconfiguration of a speaker system. Properly positioning the voice coil assembly may provide a solder-free electrical connection between the voice coil and leads that provide current to the voice coil. In some embodiments, the voice coil is user-removably attached to an inner circumferential surface of a diaphragm. In other embodiments, the voice coil is connected to the diaphragm, and the voice coil assembly and the diaphragm are both user-removably attached to a frame.

  • Publication number: 20050053247
Abstract: A crossover assembly is provided for connection in an audio system including an amplifier and two or more transducers. The crossover assembly includes a tweeter filter assembly and a woofer filter assembly. The tweeter filter assembly includes a tweeter filter housing, a tweeter filter mounted in the tweeter filter housing, an input port, an output port and a first mechanical connector. The woofer filter assembly includes a woofer filter housing, a woofer filter mounted in the woofer filter housing, an input port, an output port and a second mechanical connector. The tweeter and woofer filter assemblies are dockable by interengaging the first and second mechanical connectors and are separable by disengaging the first and second mechanical connectors.

  • Patent number: 6430300
Abstract: A cooling mechanism is provided for an audio speaker, which mechanism includes a plate of a thermally conductive material mounted between the driver mechanism of the speaker and the speaker basket and extending from the voice coil gap to the outside of the speaker. The spacing between this plate and the voice coil is preferably kept as small as possible. The plate is preferably a vent plate having a plurality of radial vents extending along the width of the plate from the voice coil gap side thereof to the side facing the outside of the speaker. Such a vent plate, in addition to providing radiant cooling, also provides cooling via air flow as well as conduction and convection cooling. The vents are sized and shaped so as to minimize any turbulence, and thus any audible air noise.
