  • Patent number: 5284009
Abstract: The present invention relates to ply-twisted yarns comprising fiber blends of about 70 to 90 weight percent base fiber and about 10 to 30 percent non-melt compatible polyolefin fiber having a melting point of about 130.degree. to 170.degree. C. The base fiber may be polyamides, polyesters, or fiber mixtures thereof. The ply-twisted yarns may be heat-set by a conventional process, whereupon the polyolefin fibers melt and bond to each other but do not bond to the base fibers.
