  • Patent number: 7690027
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method of registering and activation of PKI functionalities in SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) cards by preprinting a number of sealed envelopes each containing an activation code hidden when unopened and a reference number or code visibly printed on the envelope. The reference number or code and the associated activation code of each envelope are stored in a table in a security server being integrated in or connected to the PKI. The user is provided one of the sealed envelopes together with an application form. The user is requested to fill in the reference code or number on the application form together with personal data, and this is transferred to the PKI and the security server. When the registration is approved by the PKI, approval information is transmitted to the user, requesting him to enter the activation code in his terminal.

  • Patent number: 7024226
Abstract: A method for enabling at least a part of a Smart Card (e.g. SIM card) is described where a one time activation code is generated in a server at a telephone operator. The activation code is sent via registered mail to a Smart Card user, in a cellular phone. When the user enters the activation code into the phone, the entry is transmitted to the server for verification. Upon successful verification, the server transmits an enabling command to the phone, thus enabling the intended part of the SIM card. This may enable PKI functionalities until now hidden in the SIM card and thus unavailable for the user. The user may then choose his signing PIN for authentication, encryption and transaction signing. In case of enabling PKI functions, all necessary generation of private and public keys and establishment of certifications are carried through when the activation code is verified.

  • Publication number: 20050245246
Abstract: A system of accessing services, applications or content using cell phones and the like on a wireless network wherein the cell phone has a web browser that digitally communicates with a network server that interprets natural language message queries by means of text and grammar recognition software, then searches for responsive services, applications and content in databases, thereby satisfying the queries, then responds to the browser with a prioritized list from which the user may select a desired service, application or content item.

  • Publication number: 20040053642
Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for enabling at least a part of a Smart Card. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, a one time activation code is generated in a server at a telephone operator. The activation code is sent via registered mail to a user of a Smart Card, e.g. a SIM card in a GSM cellular phone. When the user enters the activation code into the cellular phone, the entry is transmitted to the server for verification. Upon successful verification, the server transmits an enabling command to the phone for thereby enabling the intended part of the SIM card. This may be enabling of PKI functionalities that until now have been hidden in the SIM card and thus unavailable for the user. The user may then choose his own signing PIN for authentication, encryption and transaction signing. In case of enabling PKI functions, all necessary generation of private and public keys and establishment of certifications are carried through when the activation code is verified.

  • Patent number: 5557679
Abstract: Personalization of an active so-called SIM card for a mobile telephone system of the GSM type is effected in a place connected to the central computer of the system via a communication network. The card identity IMSI and card authentication key Ki are transferred in line-encrypted form to terminal equipment in that place, where the card is inserted in a reader. After line decryption, the result thereof is transferred to the card in a manner to prevent unauthorized listening-in. This can be done in a safety box or by double encryption of IMSI and Ki, the decryption thereof being performed within the card by means of a unique card key Ksim.
