Abstract: A soil protection device for inhibiting access to soil surrounding a potted plant includes a cover member having first and second portions pivotally coupled together for relative movement between open and closed configurations. The cover member defines a stem hold through which a potted plant stem may extend. The cover member may be opened for positioning the stem hole around a plant stem and then closed to secure the device upon the soil. The cover member defines a plurality of apertures through which water may pass for watering a plant. The cover member further defines a plurality of perforations arranged concentrically about the stem hole for establishing expansion sections. A perforated line of weakness may be selectively severed for effectively enlarging the stem hole.
