    Abstract: A method of stabilizing concentrated aqueous formaldehyde solutions by the addition of a stabilizing amount of an interpolymer of vinyl acetate, vinyl acetal and vinyl alcohol to the formaldehyde solution. The interpolymer comprises from about 25 to about 65 parts by weight vinyl acetate units, from about 20 to about 72 parts by weight vinyl acetal units derived from acetaldehyde and from about 3 to about 15 parts by weight of vinyl alcohol units. The interpolymer is prepared by alcoholysis and acetalization of a low molecular weight polyvinyl acetate.
