  • Publication number: 20020109585
Abstract: A reconditioning system for extending the reach of a RF communication signal using a high voltage cable and a neutral conductor as a communication channel. A reconditioner of the reconditioning system is either a repeater or a regenerator and is coupled to the high voltage cable using novel high voltage couplers. The system has an isolation filter for segmenting the high voltage cable in order to limit interference of RF signals on different parts of the high voltage cable.

  • Patent number: 6040759
Abstract: A communication system is disclosed for providing broadband multimedia services using one or more high-voltage cables of a power distribution network, while the power distribution network is supplying electrical power. A radio-frequency signal at a first location is coupled to the high-voltage cable, transported over the high-voltage cable, and then coupled from the high-voltage cable at a second location. The radio-frequency signal at the first location is modulated with information and demodulated at the second location, thereby providing broadband multimedia service between the two locations. The broadband multimedia communications system may be used for a variety of communication needs, such as telephone service, video service, internet service, and other services requiring high-speed data transfers.

  • Patent number: 6034973
Abstract: A system and method for reducing signal attenuation of integrated services digital network (ISDN) digital transmissions at the subscriber loop, thereby increasing the available subscriber loop range, is provided. An ISDN digital transmission system is used for transmitting and receiving digital information via a line termination at a central office. Customer premises equipment is coupled to a network termination (NT-1) within the customer premises, which is in turn coupled to interface the line termination at the central office. A plurality of inductive load coils are coupled in series with the two-wire subscriber loop ISDN BRI at predetermined distance intervals, which are calibrated to resonate the two-wire bus.

  • Patent number: 5864284
Abstract: A coupling system for transferring a RF signal to and from a high-voltage cable (302) of a power distribution system is described. In one embodiment the coupling system uses a lightning arrester (314) as an element for coupling a RF signal from a RF modem (420) to and from the high-voltage cable. An impedance element of the coupling system is a section of a grounding cable (309) modified with one or more ferrite cores (430) as a means for adjusting the value of the impedance.
