  • Patent number: 4604853
Abstract: A container capping method and system for applying mechanical lock type tamper-evident closures to containers wherein the closures are heated prior to closure application to temporarily increase the flexibility thereof in a manner that tamper-indicating portions of the closures more readily withstand the closure application process without incurring visible damage or otherwise degrading the tamper-indicating function.

  • Patent number: 4567993
Abstract: A tamper-evident closure adapted for assembly with a container includes a band which, upon first opening, completely separates from a cap portion and which, upon reclosing the container with the cap, is dislodged from engagement with the container to insure that the band falls freely around a neck portion of the container to provide a substantial space between the cap and the band and thereby provide readily discernible evidence that the container has been previously opened.

Date of Patent: February 4, 1986
    Assignee: Aluminum Company of America

  • Patent number: 4378894
Abstract: A tamper-evident closure having a central disc end wall panel bonded to a sealing liner and connected to an annular end wall projecting inwardly from the closure skirt wall by at least two fracturable bridges. Removal of a closure of this invention after being applied to a container causes at least one of the bridges to fracture giving evidence that at least an attempt has been made to remove the closure.

  • Patent number: 4227617
Abstract: A container closure assembly for maintaining a sterile sealed container is provided having a ferrule having a top annular portion and a depending skirt portion for securing a resilient stopper for sealing the mouth of a container to the container, and a ring fitment for opening the closure assembly overlying and interlocking with the ferrule. The ferrule includes a central opening in the top annular portion, upwardly projecting locking portions about the periphery of the opening and a weakening line radially outwardly of and concentric with the locking portions. The fitment includes a disk portion and a concentric outer lifting ring hingedly connected to the inner disk portion for opening the closure assembly. The disk portion is secured within the opening of the top portion of the ferrule by the locking projections.
