  • Patent number: 4721934
Abstract: A cryostat comprising an outer closed cylindrical vacuum vessel and a helium vessel is situated inside the vacuum vessel. The helium vessel has on its outside surface four radially extending trunnions situated on a horizontal plane passing through the center of the helium vessel. The trunnions are symmetrically spaced on either side of the helium vessel, about the helium vessel's axial midplane. Four straps have one end of each of the strap looping about a respective one of the four trunnions. The other end of each of the straps is rotatably secured to the circular end faces of the vacuum vessel, with the two straps from the trunnions closest to an end face secured to that end face.
