    Abstract: A longitudinal cutting machine having a bottom knife mounting plate disposed on the motor shaft of a motor, wherein the mounting plate is rotated by the motor shaft. A bottom knife is mounted on the mounting plate and cooperates with a top knife. At least one air bearing is mounted on an air bearing mounting plate, and is adapted to provide a gap between the air bearing and the bottom knife mounting plate.
