  • Patent number: 6363885
Abstract: The invention provides a feed saving method of feeding livestock, as well as a feed saving feeder therefore. The animal must pass its mouth over an inwardly and downwardly sloping feed catching portion, then down through a separating portion before obtaining feed contained in a feed containing portion. Excess feed dropping from the animal's mouth onto the feed catching portion slides down into the feed containing portion.

  • Patent number: 6192629
Abstract: A gate assembly includes a gate disposed between two vertical columns with attaching members on opposite sides of the gate and engagable with the vertical columns. The locking mechanism includes a U-shaped hinge member fixedly attached on each side of a gate panel and a pivoting U-shaped latching member attached to each side of a gate panel, a hinge-U of the hinge member and a latch-U of the latch member being in cooperating relation when engaged with the vertical columns to lock a gate in a closed position. The gate assembly provides that the locking mechanism is operable on both sides of the gate.

  • Patent number: 6167842
Abstract: The invention provides an animal confinement pen comprising a front panel, a rear panel comprising a rear gate, a first side panel comprising a fixed front side panel and a movable rear side panel, and a second side panel; means to confine an animal against the first side panel with the animal's head extending through a head gate incorporated in the front panel; means to lock the rear side panel into substantial alignment with the front side panel adjacent the confined animal and to release the rear side panel allowing same to move away from the rear portion of the confined animal; means to move the rear gate away from the rear end of the confined animal; whereby all parts of the pen may be moved away from the rear end and a rear portion of the confined animal thereby allowing access thereto by the pen operator. A two-way gate provides operational advantages similar to those found in prior art pens.

  • Patent number: 5964548
Abstract: A connector for connecting panels surrounding an enclosure for cattle or horses allows one person working alone to connect adjacent panels. The connector comprises a U-shaped portion having a down-turned leg on one end and an up-turned leg on another end. The down-turned leg is pivotally connected to a post of a first panel. A post of a second panel is moved adjacent the post of the first panel. The U-shaped portion is then pivoted around the post of the second panel. A slidable sleeve, which is slidably engaged to the first post, is lowered to slidably engage the up-turned leg of the U-shaped portion, thereby connecting the adjacent panels.
