  • Publication number: 20230337911
Abstract: A gaze-tracking method and system are disclosed that employs gaze rays generated from measured/tracked eye movements and fixation for interaction with objects and environment within a three-dimensional computing environment. The gaze ray is tracked to provide measures of ocular control, fovea control, and/or associated neural pathways in which the measures can be then used for one or more physiological assessments of the user, including, for example, eye dominance determination, vestibular assessment, visual fixation assessment, optokinetic assessment, smooth pursuit assessment, nystagmus quick phase assessment, saccades assessment, and vergence assessment.

  • Publication number: 20230301506
Abstract: The exemplified systems and methods disclosed herein involve the contemporaneous and concurrent stimulation of both eyes of a patient with dissimilar visual scenes that substantially span an expected or normal visual field of both eyes. During an assessment via the exemplified system and methods, a test eye (i.e., eye being assessed) is presented a visual scene that is rich in contours (e.g., a scene with rich texture patterns) that substantially span an expected or normal visual field of a person while the non-tested eye is presented an impoverished visual scene (e.g., a contour-free or non-distinguishing-contour scene, e.g., with a homogeneous color, with respect to the contour-rich scene). Defects in the visual field can be detected by assessing for breaks or discontinuity in the observation of the contour-rich scene by the person.

  • Publication number: 20220417647
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and method for adjusting the audio output of a wearable device based on an audio gain profile of a user. The wearable device may receive an audiogram indicating one or more frequency ranges associated with hearing loss. The wearable device may determine the audio gain profile based on the audiogram. The wearable device may use one or more adjustment modules to determine a gain to apply to the audio output based on the audio gain profile. The adjustment modules may include an active noise control module, a hearing assistance module, and a transparency control module. The wearable device may determine the amount of gain to apply using a least mean square algorithm and/or a machine learning model.

  • Publication number: 20220328057
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and method for determining a background noise level. The device may receive audio from two or more microphones. The audio may include a first signal and a second signal, such that each microphone receives its own signal. The time, loudness, frequency of the first and second signals may be compared to determine the source of the audio, such as whether the audio is the user's voice or background noise. Based on the source of the audio, the audio may be suppressed to reduce false estimations when calculating the background noise level.

  • Patent number: 9900676
Abstract: Exemplary wearable computing systems may include a head-mounted display that is configured to provide indirect bone-conduction audio. For example, an exemplary head-mounted display may include at least one vibration transducer that is configured to vibrate at least a portion of the head-mounted display based on the audio signal. The vibration transducer is configured such that when the head-mounted display is worn, the vibration transducer vibrates the head-mounted display without directly vibrating a wearer. However, the head-mounted display structure vibrationally couples to a bone structure of the wearer, such that vibrations from the vibration transducer may be indirectly transferred to the wearer's bone structure.

  • Patent number: 9662265
Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for providing a Push-Pull perceptual learning technique to a subject demonstrating sensory eye dominance (SED), amblyopia, poor stereopsis, and the like. More specifically, the weak eye of the subject is forced to become dominant, while visualization in the strong eye is suppressed over the course of a treatment regimen. Such systems and methods are shown herein to result in a perceptual learning and a reduction of interocular imbalance or SED, as well as an improvement in the visual characteristics typically associated with amblyopia, poor stereopsis and similar visual deficiencies.

  • Patent number: 9401572
Abstract: An electronic device may include an audio jack allowing a peripheral audio output device to be connected to the electronic device by inserting the plug into the jack. The jack may include a receptacle that extends into the housing. A plurality of contacts may be included in the receptacle, arranged along a longitudinal direction of the receptacle. A latch may be installed in the receptacle, at an intermediate location between the proximal end and the distal end of the receptacle, to secure a position of the plug in the receptacle. A detect contact may be positioned at the distal end of the receptacle, separate from the latch. The detect contact may be actuated by the distal end of the tip of the plug to indicate that the plug is fully inserted in the receptacle. Upon actuation of the detect contact, the device may transfer audio output functionality to the peripheral device connected to the device by the plug inserted in the jack.
